Its the most wonderful time of the year
Well, since it is the season to be jolly, why not share some joy with others by sending a virtual greeting card at www.americangreetings.com? They have several free ones but others you have to pay for. Merry Christmas :)
visual puns
i love plays-on-words so I found these some of these pictures to be quite hilarious on this site! the website in general was pretty cool as well. so check it out if you're in the mood to laugh!
Pine Cove
This summer I worked at a Christian Camp called Pine Cove. I really enjoyed working there. they have a really neat website with all kinds of pictures from this summer. I was really impressed with the technical crew that worked there. The sight is definately worth checking out. It's www.pinecove.com
Looking for something to do over the break?...
If you're gonna be around the 'Delph or the "Spa City" over the break, you won't be without something to fill your weekends... Every Friday and Saturday night over the holiday, there are awesome local bands to check out... Two of which, I will highly recommend... Barrett Baber, playing a couple of stellar acoustic sets of originals and cool covers, will be at Grumpy's Too in Little Rock on Friday, December 15. And, be sure to check out the Fusion band at the Porterhouse Club (it's hard to miss... right above the Portherhouse Steakhouse in Hot Springs). The band consisting of a drummer, bass player, and guitarist play with various DJs from the Little Rock area, and, occasionally, bring in vocalists to mix it up. So, music lovers. Check it out.
chapstick
For all of you dry-lipped people, you should check out chapstick.com. You can look at what is happening in chapstick world and also find which flavor your lips might delight in. Who knew there was a website for chapstick? Drew

To get a restful night's sleep - try Lavender and Vanilla essential oils blended to create a soothing fragrance that helps you wind down and fall to sleep with ease. Easiest place to find them... Bath and Body Works... and don't forget... you can shop online 24/7 @ bathandbodyworks.com! F.Y.I. If you spend more than $50, your shipping is free!
Rediscovering favorites...
Okay... so it's frickin' freezin' outside, right? And, everyone's draggin' from the wear and tear of these last days leading up to finals week... On these cold, sleepy days, I'm reminded of being a kid...and waking up to a warm Grands biscuit with butter and a bowl of Cream of Wheat sprinkled with brown sugar... So, this morning, I woke up and made it...with extra butter on the biscuit and in my bowl of Cream of Wheat (and make it with milk, it's just not the same with water). Who thought a 22-year-old could be so nostalgic?
FOC!!!!
For those of you who missed it... FOC...or Festival of Christmas... was, as always, "the most wonderful time of the year!" So, in years to come, when you hear someone scream FOC!, know that they don't have terrets (no, I'm not sure how to spell that!), but are truly filled with the Christmas spirit

Church website
Most of the church websites I looked at were not very good. However, I found a church that I really thought looked good when I was looking for ideas the other day. www.fbclr.org- it is Fellowship Bible in Little Rocks site. I didn't use it, but if you need some ideas you should look at this one.

OBU Art Sale
Dear Online Design Class,
This is probably my last post. Don't be sad. Call me and maybe we can be friends.
The OBU Art Department is having its first annual Christmas sale December 6th through the 8th from 9 AM to 4 PM in Moses Provine. The proceeds will go to the all new OBU Art Scholarship Fund. This sale not a Christmas sale in that we are selling a bunch of knitted stockings and reindeer made out of pine cones and twigs. Instead, we are selling art that may or may not have anything to do with the holiday season. The only factor that makes this a Christmas sale is that it is taking place in the month of December. However, because the sale is taking place in the midst of the holidays, perhaps it would be a good place to find some interesting and unique Christmas gifts. Shiho Suzuki is selling some really cool earrings and necklaces, and Dr. Halaby has some neat sculptures for sale, too. If you don't have a lot of extra money, or if you've already finished your Christmas shopping, you should at least come by to see what the art students can do. It would be super fun.
Love,
Christy

Vera Bradley
well, one of my favorite thing i own , are my vera bradley bags. they are so cute! they are all basically a pasley pattern bags all different sizes, and colors! the website is www.verabradley.com
the thing i like most about vera bradley is you can't order on line, you have to buy them in the stores! so even though some people might think that is an inconvience, its part of the experience of seeing vera in person! if the store doesn't carry the exact bad your looking for in the right pattern, then you can ask them to order it for you! they are also very durable, functional, and adorable!!!! so girls check it out!

myspace came first.
in the beginning, myspace dominated the scene and facebook was but an orphan. once the facebook craze took off, myspace lost devoted followers (including myself). however, i encourage us all to remember the original online profile that has always allowed for the posting of pictures, commenting (on a wall-like interface), and sending messages. although it seems to be a bit more raw in appearance, myspace has a beautiful heart that must not be neglected.
wow, that was dumb.

starving photographer
i'm not sure if this has already been posted, but one of my favorite photographers is found at www.starvingphotographer.com. he's a guy based out of seattle and really does some amazing stuff with landscape (and does some nice stuff with photoshop as well).
Harmony-Central.com
if you're a musician looking to buy or sell an instrument and don't want to go through the hassle that comes with bidding on ebay, try harmony-central.com's classified section. it's set up like a classified section of a newspaper except that the ads are free to post and thousands of users add to it everyday. whether you're looking to buy or sell, this community of gear-traders/sellers is perfect for a quick purchase or the deal of a lifetime.

Yahoo Music
I have just recently discovered the amazingness of http://music.yahoo.com/! I really like that you can customize your own radio station becuase I have such a wide range of likes that it would be impossible to find it on any other station. This is how it works: you specify the kind of genre's you like and specific artists and based on that it picks music for you. Then rate the song, artist, and album from "never play again" to "can't get enough of." Yahoo music has lots of music videos too.
ladeedadeeda
I really like the jowlers website. I laughed so hard I almost cried. Thanks.
Hey, I have this friend, and he likes to make stuff, and he's trying to sell some of it. If you have the means, you should look through his stuff and maybe even buy some of it. Here.

creating custom t-shirts
well, something kinda cool i've discovered is this really cool company called customink. what custom ink will do is customize t-shirts from anything. like they break it down into easy steps such as 1. pick a t-shirt color 2. pick out how many font colors you want 3. pick out a font and so on....well anyways, its really easy to navigate, its easy to download any pictures you want for the shirt and its fun! the site is www.customink.com
so if your in the mood for making a t-shirt, than there ya go, maybe for a social club, maybe for a intraumural team, or just for you and your best friends to all match!!! also, they're really cheap to order, and the more you order, the less money the shirts are!!!

netflicks is addicting....
so me and jerad have discovered the amazingness of netflicks. what it is is basically a blockbuster but ten times better! its only like $10 a month and you get 2 dvds at a time! the process is you make a list on www.netflicks.com and you prioritize them by number of importance, so when you get the first two on your list, send them back, they have a guarenteed 3 day return, and then you get the next ones on your list. at anytime you can re prioritize your list according to if you change your mind about what you want to watch!!! its a pretty cool thing!

diamond how-to for guys
lately alot of guys have been asking jerad about diamonds. i guess people are fixin to get engaged. well, what i did to help teach jerad the essentials about diamonds, because lets face it, its important, is i went to adiamondisforever.com
it has important things to help you understand the 4 c's of a diamond such as carat, cut, color, clarity. those four things alone will help you navigate into buying a diamond. so for guys, go to this website it will help you out i promise!!!!

Houston Nutt Sucks....not
the fan cries to "Fire Houston Nutt" had subsided as of the end of last season. However, following the Hogs early season loss to Vanderbilt, the battlecry was once again heard and the website www.nuttsucks.com was also revived. The site is devoted to trash talking the Razorback's head coach and supports his release. Fortunately for Nutt fans, like me, Houston has been close in every game this year, even the nations top teams (except USC), and done well with a young squad. His job is safe, at least for another season
the death of e-mail
Thanks to facebook, my Yahoo e-mail address has been put to death. Almost everyone in my address book is on facebook so i send them messages through facebook rather than signing into yahoo and writing a traditional E-mail. I still use my school email to talk w/ professors and see what's going on on campus, but facebook groups exist that give campus news, and if all of my profs were to get on facebook and check it regularly, i forsee then death of the school e-mail

i hate james davis. com
I know my last post was about photography, but a friend of mine introduced me to an interesting site tonight. www.ihatejamesdavis.com is a site that a guy up north made with some of his photography, mostly of bands at concerts, but I thought he had a unique style. maybe you'll argee.
heisman watch
out of the 9 heisman nominees i think reggie bush will get it. i REALLY like college football, but let's be honest here i'm a girl and i really don't know ALLLLL that much about it. but i just really think reggie bush will get the heisman this year. if he doesn't and there's a suprise winner i think it'll be vince young, but i think matt lienart deserves it more than vince young but not as much as reggie bush. they tie i guess to me, but since matt won it last year i think that reggie should have a chance. that's what i think about that. on a seperate note, i really want texas to beat usc this year and i'm not even a texas fan. i just really want usc to lose. ok glad i could get that out.
ebay for xmas?
i know that ebay is old news but i recently realized i could ask for things on ebay for xmas. i thought it was a great idea. my parents don't ebay (they're not that cool) but i'm bidding on my new shoes! i can't wait!
potterybarn
ok so christmas is coming up and i think everyone should go to potterybarn to buy some of their christmas presents because the stuff there is very cute.

Relevant.
Even though they typically stretch themselves to inform their theology with contemporary culture, relevant magazine usually has a ton of good things to say in ways that are acceptable and relational to this generation of people. the magazine has a great layout and good design, and the website is the perfect companion for videos, news updates, and resources for postmodern living in a christian context.

URBN
we're all people who don't like being naked around each other for the most part. we like clothing on our bodies, pictures on our walls, and books to decorate our thoughts. you are likely to find some of the few appealing things about american culture at urbn.com. check it.
Open Chapel
Open Chapel is not a good idea...if you lose things often! I don't and wouldn't consider myself one to do so, but I did! I lost my green sheet that we have to get signed at each event. I have gone to many more than what was required of me, but I lost my sheet and just kept going to events because I didn't know it was going to be a problem. Well I went and talked to Ken Miles about this and he said I had to start over. So I did! There are exactly 8 events left and I have to go to everything! There's not a link for me to relate this to the internet, but go to www.obu.edu and complain for me. Maybe it's in the catalog or cirriculum.
Go find it...

Another Facebook Post
So I thought of a good idea(well, at least I think it's good) the other day. Facebook has these new photo albums and ways to kind of personalize your profile. Well, I think it would be neat if you could have a "theme song" that would play when people looked at your profile. It would be a good way to help promote music you like, plus you can have a song that helps describe you a little better. It's actually probably a terrible idea and would never work, so disregard this post. drew
Stars is a good band, i think.
i like to look at the websites of bands i listen to because it gives me a more real proximity to the people in the band. the better insight i can gain into the lives and attitudes of people in bands, the less obscure their themes become. stars is a great example of a band that presents itself as lofty and simultaneously familiar. their website is easy to navigate and provides a lot of information and avoids obscurity. what else could you want from a website?

Black Friday
I don't do much shopping online, but I know that tons of people do. I'm sure I will one day, but I think I do get into much of that because I don't have any money. We have talked about sites like amazon.com, ebay.com, and yahoo. I doubt any of you will reply or even read this, but if you do, you should comment and tell me what you want for Christmas. I am not going to buy it for you, but I know Santa. I will let him know! Good luck in the next two weeks!

Mapquest or Rand McNally?
Sooo, I decided to see which website might give me better driving directions: Mapquest or Rand McNally. Sometimes Mapquest gives funny directions, and, since Rand McNally also markets maps in print, I think I would be more willing to trust them. I went to both websites and put in my starting point and destination, and both sites gave me basically the same directions. However, Rand McNally said the trip would take 7 hours and 25 minutes, but Mapquest said it would only take me 6 hours and 46 minutes to go the same route. Hmmmm. There's something fishy here. I do think that I like Rand McNally better, though. Their website looks more professional to me, and it seems easier to navigate. That's just my opinion.
if you're in a hurry and need to know the weather on any point on the planet, www.weather.com can fill that need. it can give you current weather. hour by hour, or ten day forcasts.
when i want to waste time i go to www.ebaumsworld.com. if the internet was created to make you feel better about yourself, then this site fills that purpose. whats funnier than redneck failure?

splotches
For those of you who like art, Asian culture, or who have lots of free time:
The design is excellent, in my opinion, and the art is interesting, as well. I think the site is eventually going to do a feature on art in the west, so be on the lookout for that.

Dallas Mavericks
If you're a fan of the NBA then pay careful attention to the Dallas Mavericks. This club is 7-2 this season and just defeated the "undefeated" Detroit Pistons their first loss of the year this past saturday night. The Mavericks are known for having an exciting "run and gun offense" and they are usually involved in alot of close, exciting games throughout the season. For ticket information, or anything else go to www.mavs.com
Lovedrug
I've had a chance to see this band twice and it never gets old. This four-member band from Canton, Ohio is just getting started and I can only expect good things to come from them. After revently finishing a tour with The Juliana Theory, they are in the stages of writing their second album. Their first album, 2004's "Pretend You're Alive" was a huge hit for small label Militia Group, and this group seems to have a very promising future ahead of them. www.lovedrugmusic.com
Barsuk Records
This tiny indie record label based in Seattle has allowed for bands to break through to the big time such as Death Cab for Cutie, and rising stars Rilo Kiley. The label is less than ten years old and has put out some great albums. If you are a fan of indie rock, then there is probably a band on this label that you will really dig. Check out more at www.barsuk.com
Jarhead
I haven't seen the movie yet, but the website really makes me want to. The new military film "Jarhead" has a pretty cool website that I would encourage you to check out if you get a chance. The site seems endless, and sort of tells the story of the movie as you move through it. It's hard to describe, but it's really neat. It even has a dictionary of military "slang" terms which I found interesting. www.jarheadmovie.com
Texas Tickets
This site is great because it allows people like me to purchase tickets online for shows that are at much smaller venues. While the ticketmaster website has a decent selection of concert tickets, this website has nearly all of those and much MORE! The site is called www.texastickets.com and it has tickets for alot of the "smaller" acts out there, plus some of the biggest names in music. The prices can be pricey at times, but it's very convenient for someone who lives 4 hours from Dallas like we do. Check it out!

i love this company called "white house/black market"! its a new company i've found and they sell monochromatic clothing, hence white and black clothes! they also sell shoes, accessories, and jewerly.....its really cute the website is www.whiteandblack.com
The clothes are kinda pricey maybe bannana republic ish? but they are really cute! they also send you catalogs in the mail so you can see whats new that month, and they have online ordering so you can for sure do that! its just a great cute clothing line...so enjoy!!!

For all of you who feel as remedial as I do in Online Design... Do check out that Dreamweaver Help Site! It walks you through everything... And who doesn't like to have their hand held?... Anyway, in case you deleted the e-mail that Lannie sent with the website on it... here it is again!... http://www.uwec.edu/help/dwmx.htm
Havaianas
These flip-flops are awesome. They have a reputation for being the world's best rubber flip-flops, and are all produced in Brazil! I bought a pair last summer and found myself wearing them all the time! Maybe next summer you can pick up a pair when it's warmer. They come in alot of different colors and designs. www.havaianasus.com
vintage 21
I don't know if anyone has already posted about this, but there are some really funny videos at vintage21.com. They are done by a youth group who was fed up with the image we paint of Jesus. The videos are overdubs of the Jesus videos that have been taken worldwide. They are definately worth checking out.
Dallas Cowboys
America's team is back in business baby! The Dallas Cowboys are off to their best start in the last six years. With a record of 6-3 the Cowboys are sending a message to the NFL and its fans, "we're good now". It's great to see Bill Parcells hard work finally pay off! I encourage you to tune in and root for the Cowboys this Thanksgiving! Here's their website to learn more: www.dallascowboys.com How bout' them Cowboys!!
A good investment
For those of you who are interested in stock ownership, there is a fairly new company that has lowered it's stock price to roughly $5 dollars a share. I am not a finance or accounting major, but I do enjoy the stock market and investing. So what I'm getting at here is going to benefit all of you who choose to invest in this company. You can't beat $5 a share! There 3 quarter sales were down, but with the holiday season upon us the 4 quarter sales will rise. For example, say I'm going to buy 20 shares at $5 a share...$100 for 20 shares and in 1 month with an expected 4th quarter sales of a 17% increase you are looking at making .85 cents for each share! That's good and it's only going to increase more and more as the store gains credibility so check it out if you want on www.nyse.com or www.gandermountain.com!
concert last friday
I enjoyed myself at the concert that took place at Thrio's on Friday. Besides it being extremely hot because thrio's is too cheap to pay for air conditioning, the concert was good. Some of my friends in the band Father Maple played as well as a member from the band Caedmon's Call, Andrew Osanga. Andrew did really well, even though he didn't even have a set list, and he forgot some of his own words. But in spite of that, he seemed very gunuine. You can listen to both of these bands at myspace.
The Triptych

Who woulda thought that the Fine Arts class at OBU would teach me something I could apply in real life situations. Demon Hunter's new cd released about two weeks ago called "The Triptych" wierd name right? Well thinking back to what I learned in Fine Arts, a triptych is a three panal painting that makes makes one big picture. This new cd has three different art covers, when put together reveal three different looking skulls. Not only is it an awesome cd but the art on each cover is really tight. If the pics show up, I have the one that looks like a big spider. BTW it is a Christian band, they are really good. The vocals are amazing.
hey adam davis!... this one's for you, baby!
If you love friggin' awesome music... check out a couple of Kings of Leon tunes, performed live at RollingStone.com! Umm... I guess I'll just let the music speak for itself...

Monday, November 14, 2005
I am sure you all know, but Facebook now has photo albums. What a great idea. I have really enjoyed looking at photo albums of friends I haven't seen since high school. And you can see pictures of them from every person's album they are in. By mousing over the names a box will appear over the person matching with the name if you don't know who is who. So much better than Photobucket! Facebook just keeps getting better!

the mall sucks!
For all you guys (and maybe some of you girls) who dread hitting the mall this Christmas to shop for moms and girlfriends at Bath and Body Works... HAVE NO FEAR! BathandBodyWorks.com opened as an e-commerce site at last month's end! Just in time for the holidays! Anyhoo... for you shopping-phobes BBW has opened this site just for you! Now you just have to find out what us girls are wanting... GOOD LUCK!
Wasting time
Any time i get bored and need to waste more time i can always count on www.ebaumsworld.com. There are endless archives of videos and ictures of people being stupid. if the internet was invented to make you feel better about yourself, than this site fullfills that purpose.

Weekend Plans
So it occurred to me while I was planning my weekend that there is a website that I often find convenient when doing so. Finally, something to share. I love movies. Especially in the theater! So www.moviefone.com is a great tool to see what, when and where movies are showing, and what the movies are about. It also has some other services that I don't use but maybe you would. So yea...next time you're planning to go see a movie check it out. THE END
yahoo
I know most everyone in here has used Yahoo before, but I just wanted to comment on the usefulness of their site. I was needing to find directions to a concert this weekend in Ft. Worth and I went to Yahoo, clicked on maps typed in my destination, and had instant directions. I was then interested in seeing what movies were playing in Ft. Worth and the times. I clicked on movies, typed in the area code, and a listed of theaters, shows and times came up. It was nice to have so many options on one site. Not to mention e-mail, the search engine, games, messenger, etc. Props to Yahoo.
Back Country
I don't know about you but I love the outdoors. Whenever I get a chance I enjoy taking time to go backpacking or hunting in the gorgeous natural state! This website, backcountry.com has plenty of great products to help make these excursions more enjoyable and productive for you. From tents to backpacks to Nalgene bottles, this website has everything! Visit backcountry.com today for all of your outdoor needs!

Wikipedia
i found this website wikipedia.com, which is basically an online encyclopedia that makes nice use of web design technology to offer the user an easily navigable interface for locating as much information about topics and those to which they are related (there are sometimes fifty or sixty links per article!). my favorite feature though, is probably the "random" function, in which the encyclopedia randomly locates a topic for your pleasure. this is a productive and educational way to spend time.

NBA
The NBA is going to enforce a dress code that is more professional. I think it's great for the league, players, coaches, and fans. The recent image that the NBA has sent to our youth is a more urban look with outrageous clothing and accessories. Some players do not agree with the new dress code, but for the most part these are the players that are causing problems. In a couple of weeks we will be seeing lots of footage from the year anniversary of the worst fight in professional sports between the Pistons and the Pacers. This year is going to be a good year for the NBA as they are cleaning up their act and trying to get back the audience it had in the early to mid 90's. The professional sports world needs basketball to come back and be like it was in the Jordan era! Not many people like to watch the NBA anymore from my understanding, but this year is going to bring it back...mark my words!

fun & games
So, most of us are college students. As such, I'm pretty sure we all have TONS of spare time that we're looking to fill. There's this website that can help us do that. It's called freearcade.com. I found the site one day during my computer science class in 12th grade, and I've visited it frequently ever since...maybe you should, too.

Photography
I thought I would be a good friend and give a little plug for my roomate, Stephen Carter. Stephen has a proffessional photography website called smcphotos. His website has all sorts of cool photos from his travels as well as pictures from events at Ouachita and around the area. He does weddings and pretty much will do anything if you will pay him. So, go give the website a look and help a poor college student out a little.

Star Ocean Till The End Of Time.
Ok, so the title is a little wierd. Well that is because it is the name of the RPG (Role Playing Game) I am currently playing on my PS2. I am a big fan of RPG's, and I've played almost all of the Final Fantasy series. So when my wife and I bought the PS2, she wanted DDR mat and game and I got to buy a game that I would want to play. Star Ocean is nothing like FF series, but it is made by the same company, well it was the same company until it merged to become Squareenoix (sp?) The story line is very strong, though the scenes between play seem a bit long. The battle strategy is awesome, upon meeting an enemy on the world map you are then taken to another area to do battle where you can control your main character or switch to the other two that are with you. I'm a little over half way done with the game, I finished the first of two disks Sunday night on 25 hours of play, I'm currently on 36 hours of play and can't wait to put another RPG under my belt.

urban outfitters
The clothing store, Urban Outfittters, has a really neat site. You can look at it at urbn.com. The design is really fun, and user specific. You can look under men's or women's and then click on a section: shoes, shirts, pants, etc. It is really easy to navigate and they have a great product line. You can also make a wish list and send it to someone. It is a basic cothing site, but I think it does a good job of reaching the target audience.
Goldfish
I just recently went to Wal-Mart, and bought myself some delightful little cheesy cracker snacks, also known as goldfish. I was watching TV the other day, eating the little bits of Heaven, when I noticed a website on the back of the box. The website is www.pfgoldfish.com. You can do all sorts of things that have to do with goldfish. I'm not really promoting the site, because it's a complete waste of time. So, if you have time to waste, and you really enjoy goldfish, go check out the site.

What you need....
Ever had the feeling you needed something but didn't know what exactly? Well the search engine Google (or any search engine for that matter) can solve your problems. But entering your name then the word needs a bountiful list of subjects of what you need will pop up. Ok not really but it will have your first name and what that person needs. I don't mean to offend anyone but I went ahead and did a search for the entire class keeping only the ones that I'm sure wont be offensive.

Mug Root Beer
I was late to class today because I was parched and I need something to drink. So I stopped by the vending machine and picked up a Mug Root Beer. While I was sipping on my beverage I noticed a website on the side of it. Yes, Mug Root Beer has a website. It appears that the dog is looking for his friend Tex. The site talkes about how the company got started and gives a brief history on how it got to where it is today. It is worth the look and it tastes pretty good as well.

vintage21.com
A friend of mine introduced me to a funny site this weekend. You can visit it at www.vintage21.com, if you click on the movie reel, you can watch 4 movies. They are all clips from an old Jesus film, with voices dubbed in. Each video is a misconception of who Jesus is, you should watch a few. I thought it was a really neat idea.
Gas Prices
I heard about this website on msn that will let you know the cheapest gas prices in your area by zip code (for Arkadelphia you have to enter 71923), so you can pass by those higher priced ones and go directly to the cheapest pumps. Its updated hourly so check it out! http://autos.msn.com/everyday/gasstations.aspx?zip=

Intramurals
So Kappa Slim has had a curse for many years of unsuccessful sport seasons, but yesterday Slim won there sixth game of the season. Kappa Slim is now 6-0 on the season and have a winning season for the first time in who knows how long! BUT...recsports has yet to acknowledge our success this season and it bothers me. I don't know what you can do about this Lannie, but you know about all this stuff. Could you please hack into the site and write up a decent report on how good we are doing? Actually, don't worry about it because we have been doing well without it. If any of you would like to check out the rec sports site go to the tigernet and then click rec sports! Maybe email them telling someone about the competition and outcome of this season! Sorry this blog sucks!
Project 86
Ok, I don't know how many people in this class are fans of this band or if you even know who they are. I would compare them to any alternative rock band, their latest cd, ...and the rest will follow, is more of their harder stuff. But they are pretty good in my opinion and they will be in concert in Fayetville, AR October 22nd. I've been a big fan of thier music since I was in the 9th grade and they have gotten progressivly better each year. So check out Project 86 they are worth the look.

Sigur Ros (are geniuses).
if you have had any interaction with the underground music scene (this is for you gary), then you are probably aware of the beautiful orchestral hooks and the language of 'hopelandic' in which sigur ros's lead singer, jonsi, portrays his art. with the release of their much anticipated new album, "Takk," sigur ros is more cohesive than ever in the conceptual and abstract realms, but they never fail to translate it into the concrete language of thoughtful, or classically inclined individuals.
their website is equally endearing, and they make an effort to make the site just as beautiful as their music. give it a shot and if i can't convince you that their website is neat, perhaps it wouldn't do any harm to buy their latest album to give your life's soundtrack a little more aesthetic appeal..

Chapel
I hate that I am taking Open Chapel at this time. From what I hear the past two chapels have been very good. I was very disappointed to miss the chapel today. I don't know if I can still attend chapel, if I wanted too, eventhough I don't have a seat. Today's chapel is being talked about all over campus because the guy who spoke supposedly "crossed the line" or was just a little out there with his descriptions and statistics. Since I wasn't there I don't know what was said, but it must have been interesting. So Kudos to Ian this fall for stepping it up in the chapel schedule. If anyone knows if I can attend chapel without having a seat, let me know. And NO I will not go in your place...I am a Kappa and we all know about Chapelgate! Also, I would like to know what was said or if I could get the tape just to watch this speaker!
Posting
So no one has written a post in a long time. Well here is a post about posting. Some may say that it takes time and effort to come up with a good post. We all want something everyone will read and say, "Wow, that was a good informative post." or, "Wow, that was a really funny post." I feel that posts should be random and about anything that may spark our interest that we feel we need to share with the class. Yeah sure we have to get ten done over the course of the semester, Lannie just wants us to show we know how to use this and that we are responsible enough to keep the blog from "dying" as he put it at the beginging of class. So whatever comes to your mind post about it, it doesn't have to be perfect or amazing, it just has to be a post that you are happy with. Now that I've typed all that, and that you have hopefully read it, happy postings everyone!

Fall Break
Over the break I plan on going hiking with a few of my friends. I got some new gear this summer and I just wanna let you know a little bit about it! My tent is a solo PCT 1 mountain hardware. The PCT 1 is a double walled backpacking tent for one person. This solo is a sleek canopy with great ventilation. It weighs a little more than 3 pounds and fits well in my Kelty 5600 pack. I also own a 5 degree mountain hardware mummy bag. My tent is appropriate for the hiking and climbing I will do this year, but the bag and pack are pretty intense and I don't plan on going on any 7-10 day trips in weather less than 20 degrees anytime soon! But if you would like to check any of these items or more really interesting products out take a look at

e-bayhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.spell.gif
I agree with Lauren's post about Paypal, but once you get your Paypal account setup, e-bay is great fun. The first time I used e-bay to buy something I thought it would be difficult, but the site is very easy to use. You can set up an account, seach for items you are interested in buying, watch the items in your e-bay, and then bid on the item if you think the price is right. Most sellers accept paypal and if you have your paypal account setup all you have to do is push pay and the money is automatically transfered from your account to the seller's account. Then within a week (most of the time) you will recieve your item in the mail. If you have never used e-bay before I would encourage you to try it. I have found some great things at really low prices. It is easy and trustworthy. Once you get started it is hard to stop.
Katrina again!
I don't think we should take this lightly, but the media has covered Katrina a lil much, it's been good, but still it's getting boring. But last night while watching Monday Night Football I did enjoy and appreicate the dedication of the past hall-of-famers taking donations and calls on live television. I'm pretty sure that every commercial and each break something was said about the hurricane. The BushClinton Fund or whatever it's called has raised tons of money, and who knows what they made last night, but my question is will this continue each week until the Super Bowl? That's gonna get redundant! I wonder what else we can do in the media to raise money in a new, interesting way?

Relevant Magazine
Most Christian magazines today are a great source for information on music, movies, and books that all relate to Christianity. However, it's very hard to find one that provides a good mix of both mainstream and Christian entertainment. Look no further then Relevant Magazine. This magazine includes stories about music both christian and non-christian. I really enjoy looking at the website to, because it includes many updates and links to alot of bands, movies, or other news that I am interested in. Relevent is a great idea because it is Christian based, but does not ignore all of the other great entertainment that the non-Christian world is making. Check out the website at www.relevantmagazine.com
Mountain Biking
About two years ago I decided to get into the sport of mountain biking. I bought a Specialized Hardrock. I love the bike, and have since made several modifications to it. A really reliable website that I have used is called pricepoint. It has extremely low prices and also gives combinations of products that helps to make the prices lower. They are quick to send you the stuff you buy to. So, for all of you bikers out there, check it out...It's a great site.

RITA
We're in for another hurricane. "Rita" has just torn through the Keys and is on its way to the gulf. www.weather.com sponsored be The Weather Channel, predicts the hurricane to hit land between texas and new orleans by the end of the week.
THE RETURN OF UNPLUGGED!
Unless you lived under a proverbial rock growing up, I'm sure you are all familiar with the now virtually obsolete, although fondly remembered by us children of the 90s - MTV's "Unplugged." It featured heavy alternative groups such as Nirvana and Alice in Chains, rap phenom LL Cool J, and legendary artists such as KISS and Eric Clapton stripped down for live acoustic performances. Finally MTV has taken a step in the right direction (a rarity for this now reality show-laden "music" channel) and has recorded a brand spankin' new Unplugged set with the contemporary R&B diva - Alicia Keys. You can check it out now at www.overdrive.mtv.com

Ctrl+Alt+Del
Now I know not all of us are video game fans. I'm not that big of a fan of them but I do enjoy the occasional gaming experience, but before I go out and rent one or buy I like to do a little background work on the game so I don't waste my money. One site I find very useful for this is www.ctrlaltdel-online.com, now I should mention this is mainly an online web comic about two guys that play of all things video games, the archives take a while to read through but in doing so I've found several reviews the artist does in the comics. If he likes the game the characters talk it up, if not that game becomes the end of several punch-lines and you get a good laugh out of it. Unless you like the game. Over all a great site with a few pretty cool features and links to other cool sites.
Pay Pal sucks
i hate pay pal. i bought a new nalgene on ebay and i can't figure out how to pay for it using my pay pal. i have bought a few things on ebay before so this is not my first time. why is this so difficult? the ebay web site www.ebay.com is very difficult to navagate through when you are trying to pay. maybe it's just for me. but i can't figure out how to may for my nalgene. everytime i click on pay now. it takes me to the paypal and i do it but then it keeps sending me to the same sites over and over. i thought i was more computer knowledgable than this... obviously not.

Copeland
One of my favorite bands right now is Copeland. They are known for their distinct harmonies and memorable melodic lines. The songs they sing have no trouble being stuck in your head the first couple of times you hear them. Their website, www.thecopelandsite.com, has all kinds of neat media to help find out more about this awesome band.
NFL football
Personally, i am not a fan of the NFL, but there are many that are. The site is www.NFL.Com
Jerad and his group of friends love to go to NFL.com because they don't have cable in their apartment, so they can't keep up with scores, so they utilize this website for players updates, scores of games, and also just NFL news. I found that the site was good because it has all the teams across the top and you click on your team and it leads you to that teams page with current news, scores, players and more. the navigation is good, colors are congruant throughout the website, and even though i don't like the NFL, i could easily find what i might be looking for such as a certain player, how many points he scored, and so on.

Pine Cove
I spent this past summer working at Pine Cove Christian Camps in Tyler, TX. Pine Cove is a neat place, and so is its website, www.pinecove.com. The site was completely revamped this summer and now includes an extensive photo gallery of everything that went on at camp. If you ever get bored, you should check it out. You could waste hours browsing the photos...
Addicting games is wasting my time
my new motivation for procrastination is www.addictinggames.com
This site allows you to play games without dowloading them onto your computers memory. i find myself wasting time looking for any new game a havent played yet, out of a library of thousands.

The Polyphonic Spree
This weekend I'll be making a trip down to Dallas to check out an amazing band known as The Polyphonic Spree. At first glance this 22 member ensemble might seem quite strange in their multi-colored robes and assorted instruments, but there is no denying their catchy and likeable sound and positive lyrics. Formed in 1999 by frontman Tim Delaugther, this band has grown in it's popularity, and has had it's music featured in Hollywood films like the upcoming film "Thumbsucker". To read more about this truely innovative band, check out their website, www.thepolyphonicspree.com
What is...
For all you computer-impaired out there--there is hope!! I found this website www.whatis.com that can define any computer term you can think of. You might want to go ahead and add it to your favorites list because I'm sure it will come in handy for this class.
number 4
This weekend I'm headed to Fayetteville to see Edwin Mccain for the fourth time. Get a life right? Edwin had a few hits in the early 90's and not much has made it big since but he's still around and still making great music. His website is great. You can pick up new merchandise, like the new "Live at the Hard Rock" DVD, and get tour information. The site also streams 5 or 6 songs that can be played through your web browser. Check it out www.edwin.com

Lannie rocks @ the internet
i find that i spend too much time on the internet, but in doing so i also find many entertaining websites. web design is an interest of mine and i started with geocities. i refuse to pay for any program to help get me started on personal web design. music sites of all kinds interest me the most. one of my favorite bands is incubus. these guys are pretty up to date on the technology and growth of the popularity of the web. i am sure they have someone create their site, but it has many links, not only to all about their music and products, but also personal interest of band members. i have found many interesting things about the band and each member.
check out enjoyincubus.com, it's on my new site that we made through html or just google it!

late registration - kanye west
music is a major passsion for me, and, as such, I really make an effort to stay on top of up-and-coming artists, new releases from my favorite artists, and gaining new knowledge to add to my well-spring of useless trivia. on that note (no pun intended) there's an awesome review of kanye west's new album, late registration, on www.rollingstone.com! definitely check out the article and the album!! you won't regret it!

Wiffle ball is a wonderful game that captures the enjoyment of baseball without requiring the same skill level, number of people, or fieldspace. My Dad grew up playing wiffleball with his friends and he taught me how to play. I played in a few tournaments in my hometown and even played in one league. It's a great form of recreation and I encourage baseball lovers to explore this game. Here's a website that will tell you more about the game - http://www.wiffle.com/
Some people get very into it and compete nationally. I'm not really that good or that into it, but it's crazy to think what you can do these days.

chance to do some good
A friend told me about a website that seems like it is actually doing some good. www.savedarfur.org. It's purpose is to raise money to fight starvation in Sudan. You can even purchase a wristband (the kind that have become so popular lately) to show your support for the organization. I actually asked my friend about it cause I saw his wristband - what a brilliant way of advertising for free.

reflex test
one of my friends showed me this site. It can be fun for a little while. Good for killing time if nothing else. The design is simple and loads quickly so you won't have to wait. http://www.happyhub.com/network/reflex/
Give it a try.

history...it's exciting
I love history, especially royalty, so the historychannel.com is so fun for me. You can log on and look up shows that are going to be on the channel, but you can also use it as an information source for all kinds of topics. It is informative and eye catching!
Ebay Warning
I bought a purchase off of Ebay about a month ago and payed the extra money to have it shipped to me in 2 days. Well, 2 weeks went by and I still had not recieved my package, so I emailed the seller with no response. Another day passed and I called Ebay and they could not do anything about it because the transaction was already complete and eveidentally the package was sent. So a few days later I recieved my package and the seller said that it was a miscommunication with the post office, but my warning to you is to never pay the extra money for fast shipping. More than likely the seller my buy that extra shipping, but it doesn't help if they take it to the post office 2 weeks after you purchased the item.
weather channel
I love the weather.com. It is the weather channel onine and it can be so helpful. It allows you to look up the weather by zip code or city and state. I have used the website for travel and it allows you travel weather through all the cities you may be passing by and it also will give you and extended forcast which is helpful for packing.
Nutrition Facts
If you have ever wondered the nutritional value of the food you are eating when you go out to a restaurant, just log on to the internet, go to that restaurant's website, and the restuarant will have the nutrional values posted. A lot of times they also have pocket nutritional charts that you can print off and have with you. A helpful resource for the heath conscience.

Weather Bug
I'm not sure if this is an actual website or what, but weatherbug is amazing. I know it's connected to the internet . . . anway - it's got really helpful links to look up local and national weather, as well as the weekly update. And you can make it a link right onto your desktop.
new page
I know I already posted about the EEE page, but it wasn't good when I posted it, and now it's completely different. It's a lot better now - there are links with pictures, history, events, and a nice guestbook. You can still get to it by the same link of the organizations link on the tigernet.
Cereal Critiques
It might just be late, but this site made me laugh really hard.
http://www.coldbacon.com/food/cereal-sometimes.html They list most of hte cereals I grew up with and critique them. The critiques are mostly true and very harsh. I also really like the song that they play. Is that something that you add in Dreamweaver?

Hershy and Kosher
I really like the Hershey site. It has a lot of info on it, but it is well organized so you never feel overwhelmed. It has all sorts of nutritional information, mostly pertaining to allergies. It also has a list of what candies they have and if they are Kosher or not. I found this list very interesting. Bubble Yum Bubble Gum is kosher along with the different types of chocolate eggs that they sell.
Solve The Mystery For Yourself
On the usanetwork.com website you can go to the Monk website. Monk is a TV series that is about a obsessive compulsive detective named Monk. You can now solve mysteries for yourself, thanks to this innovative site. If you can not solve the mystery, than they will tell you how Monk solved it. It's fun you ought to try it!
How to Pray for Mission
The International Mission Board has a really cool website. I thought the navigation was a little confusing, but I think that might just be because it is such a huge site. One thing that I thought was really cool, was that you choose what country and the how current of a topic you want, and they will give you specific things to pray for that country. Even though they have all the countries listed they do not have prayer items for all of them, I thought that was a bummer. Mostly I thought it was a cool site though.
Identity
This is now one of my favorite movies. It is a couple of years old but I just recently watched it. I guess it would be classified as a psychological thriller/murder myster. The website is pretty cool as well. You can go to http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/identity/if you want to find out more about it.
siftingsherald.com
Looking for a job this summer? If you are planning on staying here this summer and still do not have a job then you might want to check out the classified section of this site. There are not a lot of opportunities but you may find what you are looking for. I check it regularly.
coffeebreakarcade.com
This is another great gaming site. It has sports games, shooting games, casino games and many others. If you have a lot of time and nothing to do then this is a great place to waste it. Miniature Golf is the best.
switchboard.com
This site is great. If anyone loses the phonebook as often as I do or if you just do not have one this site will fill the void. You can search for numbers by entering in the name and location of the individual you are trying to contact. The coolest part I thought was being able to enter a number and find out who it belongs to. You can search for individuals or businesses and it has a place to obtain maps and directions. It is very convenient.
Fun Website for Kids
Before A Series of Unfortuneate Events was a movie it was a series of books. My little sister loves these books, and got the whole family hooked on them. It's website goes along perfectly with the theme and is really funny. From book info, to movie info, to games, and screensavers this website has it all for kids who have either enjoyed watching the movie or reading the books.
Buddy Icon
Having trouble choosing a buddy icon for you instant messenger? The American Greetings website has many icons to choose from. All you have to do is double click on the icon you want to have up on you screen and it brings up a window automatically asking if you want to change it. It's easy and they are cute!
Staying Organized
The Hallmark website has desktop calendars that you can download on to your computer and make your background. It is free and it helps you stay organized, what could be better than that? There is also an interactive version of the calendar that must be viewed through Macromedia Flash Player.

blonde jokes
So, ever since I was little people feel the need to tell me lots of blonde jokes. They seem to think it's really funny. So I found a great source for blonde jokes. If you visit www.zelo.com/blonde there's all kinds of funny ones. One of my personal favorites:
Q: What did the blonde say when she looked in the box of Cheerios?
A: OOH! Donut seeds!

Easter Eggs
"In the context of software, an Easter Egg is a hidden feature or novelty that the programmers have put in their software."
Check out eeggs.com! The most common easter eggs that I look for are those on DVDs. There are many DVDs, some of which you probably own, that have cool little features hidden in the menus. For instance, within Memento's menu, there is somewhere hidden (and difficult to find) where you can watch the movie in chronological order. On the Finding Nemo DVD, there are nine hidden jokes and animations!
If you have some time to kill, search for some of the DVDs you own and access things on them you never knew were there.

"On The Border" Web site is so good!!
I love Mexican food. I especially love On The Border mexican food. You can visit their website at www.ontheborder.com. It's really cool, you can look up the menu & prices for any On The Border restaurant across the country. They also offer catering and they can even give you catering estimates through their website. If you sign up to their mailing list, you can recieve a free appetizer. How great is that? It is a very nice website. I like the online menu and the colors are very festive. The navigation bar across the top is very nice as well. Check it out.
Great Soccer Website
The American Youth Soccer Association has an amazing Soccer Website at www.soccer.org. It makes great use of colors (red, blue, white), and great pictures. It is easy to navigate. It is very appealing to the eye, and best of all is that it has awesome flash components. Scroll across the navigation bar on the top of the screen and a bouncing soccer ball appears in each tab. It's a very fun and useful site. Check this site out when you are working on your Arkadelphia Soccer Assocaiton website. It is sure to be a great reference tool.

Mullets!!!
Well...I was looking for some hair styles and I found this site:
www.mulletsgalore.com
It's kind of interesting and has some neat ideas. Oh, and there are some fun pictures of well, mullets. Mostly I think it would be a fun site to visit if you are a fourteen year old boy or if you are really bored. Anyway, I have decided not to get a mullet...just so everyone knows. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :)

rent.com
If anyone's looking for an apartment may I suggest rent.com? It's a website that has pictures of a lot of apartements, plus it shows the floorplans, price range, deposits, pets, and all that other good stuff you need to know when looking for a place to live. Also, there are cupons that you can print out to take to the apartment that will take $100 off your deposit because you found it on rent.com
onion

Barnes & Noble Website
This is a great website for those looking for the perfect book, dvd or cd. They've got everything!! Even out of print and used books. The website is very visually soothing because it uses nice earth tones. It really does make you want to read a good book. Or for me...start reading books. haha (that was dumb!) Anyways. Check out this site at www.BN.com
IKEA
More great shopping online at Ikea. This is a Switzerland based company. Products are good quality and cheap. Yes, I have purchased products from them. They ship all over the world. Many stores are poping up across the US. Locate the store near you.
Wicked
Wicked: The Untold story of the Witches of Oz is a favorite musical of mine. Wickedthemusical.com is a fun site with interactive links that tell the story of the musical, fun downloads, and music clips. If you enjoy musicals this is a great site!
Amityville
While I was exploring www.howstuffworks.com when I came across the horror story of Amityville. This caught my attention because some friends and I went to see it last weekend. I didn't really see more than 5 minutes of it because I'm terrified of scary movies. So on this site I was able to find the story behind the haunted house. It gave me chills. Check it out if you are planning to see the movie.

container store
I really enjoy being organized, and even more I really enjoy The Container Store. It's a very organized page, and the colors go with the entire store theme. They even have a link for college bound students. They have links on how to plan a space or how to organize a project. It's pretty neat. www.containerstore.com
filmwise
A friend recently introduced me to www.filmwise.com It's a great site, although I haven't come to love it as much as I love imdb.com... However, this site can be entertaining (or humbling) for movie lovers. If you go to the site and find the link for quizzes or invisibles - you'll find hours of entertainment. The invisibles are scenes from movies with the people removed but clothes remain, and you have the opportunity to guess what the movie is. There are competitions weekly for these, or you can just do them for fun. I've already spent a bunch of time on the invisibles and find them quite enjoyable.
The people that made the site also created the board game Scene It, so movie lovers have a lot to thank them about... Check it out.

A friend from Hendrix College visited me a little over a week ago and showed me his facebook account. I was quite interested. Facebook could be compared to Xanga, but it is much different. Facebook allows you to search for friends if you know their current college, or search by year and school of high school graduation. It was pretty cool to see the Facebook pages of people I haven't talked to since graduation. My friend told me that he talks to people he never remembers seeing, but now they keep in touch. It's a great way to find long lost friends.
I have yet to create a xanga site but if OBU gets Facebook, I am definitely joining in. If you know someone who has facebook, check it out - you'll be amazed.
If you want to see the homepage here's the link www.thefacebook.com

bored? don't be.
Over spring break I had a lot of time on my hands and rediscovered www.bored.com I hadn't visited the site in years but found it somewhat entertaining. For those looking for something to do or just a little laugh they have tons of things to do on the site: quizzes, surveys, jokes, pictures, etc...
Some of the humor is a bit crude but it can help pass the time if you need to.
To critique just a bit, I thought their homepage was way too big - this forces the user to scroll down a lot in order to see all the options that the site has. But in the world of boredom, beggars can't be choosers.

Tigernet
One of the pages I visit most often is the Tigernet, Ouachita Baptist University's student intranet. It has links to the school's organizations page, the Tigerclassifieds (a page dedicated to students and faculty that have announcements or items in need or in need of selling), and it also has many helpful reference links on the right of the page. These are helpful, of course, only if you are a student of Ouachita Baptist University or a prospective student. Lastly, it has a very helpful directory page (you can only access it if you are a student or faculty member) for locating the mailbox or phone number of other students or professors.
Overall I am a big fan of this site and I recommend you check it out (just so long as you are a student or faculty member at Ouachita Baptist University)!

Wow! There are a lot of sites where you can find out about free stuff that is available.

Amazing Race
I love watching the Amazing Race! It's one of the only reality TV shows that I watch. Teams go around the world and follow clues and complete challenges. Sometimes I miss the latest episodes so I go to CBS.com and click on the Amazing Race link at the top, then click on the picture that appears on the main part of the screen. You can look up information about each team and you can even watch small video clips if you have the right coputer equipment. I never do, but that's why I watch the show!
Learn the Argentine Tango on the Internet
Did you know that you can learn to dance on the internet?
Just go to http://home.att.net/~larrydla/basics_0.html
Actually the site is really boring and is basically a book on-line.
The idea is a good one, though, and would be a good project for a website to redesign.
Think of all the cool things you could do. You could have cartoons demonstrating the steps.
Flash would be a neat program to use.

kingdom of heaven
I saw a commercial for a new movie called Kingdom of Heaven. I looked up the website because I had no idea what the movie was going to be about. I still don't know. The website looked just like the movie, but it didn't really give me any information. There was a place where I could go to certain scenes, but I didn't know what to look for since I didn't know what the movie was about in general. I lost interest quickly so I gave up - it's probably an interesting movie, but I'll never know. It doesn't look like something I would like.

more shopping
Most of you Dallas girls know what Sam Moon is, but for everyone else it is a huge accessories store. It's fun and they have a lot of cute jewlery, but the only downfall is it's in Dallas. I have recently discovered sammoon.com!! It has all the same products as the store with the convience of ordering online! The prices are great and shipping isn't bad either!! You should check it out!!
addictinggames.com
If you have a lot of free time on your hands or you just need a break this site is great. It has hundreds of games that range from sports to board games. At the top of the page it has the most played games and I think that it updates it weekly. All of the other games are listed by category. Beware though, you will spend many hours here and not mean to.
Cool Sites
I was desperate to find something to blog about.
In my desperation, I typed in "cool sites" to Google.
I found coolsiteoftheday.com.
Everyday this site takes votes of the site of the day. It is interesting to look at all the linked sites in the archives.
There is also a icon that links to ringtones for your phone.

E page
One of the websites that I visit most is the EEE page (a link from the tigernet). It's ironic that I visit it so much since it is so awful! There's not anything fancy about it at all. Some of the links don't have anything on them, and the only one that is worth looking at is our guestbook. The guestbook is just a place for us to write announcements, or ask general questions, or for alumni to write and tell us what they're doing. There are a few pictures, but just of the one girl that tried to fix it a long time ago and her friends . . . its nothing to brag about.
A mom of one of our new pledges volunteered to take over and fix the site and keep it semi-updated, but nothing has happened yet. Hopefully something will happen over the summer. So don't go visit the site unless you have to, you'll be disappointed.

Hello Little Rock
My good friend Beth Woolley introduced me to a really neat job search website yesterday that I had never heard of. It's HelloLittleRock.com. This was a site with jobs that were with really recognizable companies. It had postings for Alltell, Acxiom, and some other big Arkansas companies. It also had links that would take you directly to the company's website so that you could apply for the job online. I thought it was really helpful.

my brother is a skater
My little brother, Jordan is really into rollerblading. A skate park opened in our city a few years ago and he's been practicing ever since. I looked up the skate park website, www.gpxsk8.com. There's a link called GPX team or something, which has his picture and a little bio (which is not all true) in Acrobat Reader. The flash that they use is a little too busy, but once it stops it's a pretty nice looking site. It matches all the flyers, and posters and all their advertising around town.
Russel stole my post
Russell, you totally stole my #1 favorite site, IMDb.com. I was going to make a post about that site, and now I cannot do so. I thought we were friends, man.

Rent Movies Online
For all you movie lovers out there, Blockbuster.com allows you to pay a monthly fee and chose movies that you would like to rent. You can either pick the movies up at a Blockbuster near you or they can be sent to you. For a low monthly fee you can watch as many movies as you would like. All you have to do is choose a movie, watch it, return it, and choose another one. Sounds like a good deal!!
American Idol
So I love American Idol and of course I visit the website frequently. It's a fun, interactive site that gives you fun facts and behind the scences kinda things about the show. I have also learned that Entertainment Tonight gives clips of the show before it airs. So if you just can't wait to find out what the music theme of the week is or who gets kicked off before the show airs, you can check out entertainment tonight!

imbd.com
Have you ever wondered how you can find out the name of a character in a movie without actually looking through the credits at the end of the movie? Maybe you want to look up an exact quote from a movie... or maybe you just want to find out what a movie is about.
Try going to www.imdb.com (internet movie database). It is an incredibly thorough site that (they claim) contains information about any movie ever made. You can see who directed or starred in a film. They have memorable quotes, a synopsis of the plot, and reasons for the rating of the film.
I discovered this site a few years ago and use it often to glean quotes and find out more about the movie in general.
It is fairly simple in its design but has a number of options that can help to make you an expert on any movie. Another great thing about the site is that it gives weekly updates on what is being released in theaters, on dvd, and what is tops at the box office.
You should really use this site if you're a movie buff or just wanting to know more about a movie you're going to see. Russ

Rob Thomas
Rob Thomas's new cd is due out April 19. His site is really exciting too! I don't know how to make squares pop up like on his site www.robthomasmusic.com I thought this site might be a little inspiration to someone.
Dasani
Because i'm addicted to Dasani lemon flavored water I thought I must check out the site. My main quest is to find out when it will be sold at Wal-MArt in 12 packs. This flash site has many fun things to keep you amused for minutes or hours. I still don't know the answer to my question.
ATTN: SENIORS
For those of you who like me are graduating in 4 weeks and have no idea what you're going to do with yourself or where you're going to do it I may have a solution. Tuesday May 3 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock there is supposedly the biggest job fair in the state. You can find more info about it on arkansasdemocratgazette.com. I know I'm planning on going if anyone else wants to go with me. (That's if it's okay with you, Lannie)
ultimate-guitar.com
For anyone interested in playing the guitar but not to good at playing by ear this site is perfect. It has just about any kind of sheet music a person could look for. Out of all the guitar tab sites I have looked at this one is by far the best. The tabs are listed alphabetically and you can also search by song title or band title. It has links for current news in music, contests you can enter, and various other things. It also has a place where you can submit your own tabs if you have one that is not already listed.

Flash tips
I finished my Flash project this afternoon, and thought I'd post a few tips/reminders that might help you all get through it faster and with less trouble. If you're like me, you're still a little shaky and have forgotten a few things since the last time we had class.
One: I created each object on a different layer - it takes up time but I think it keeps it simple by keeping the objects separated
Two: I'd create anything (text or object) that you wish to remain stationary during the clip in the first layer - then move on to creating other (moving) objects and text.
Three: Make sure you are converting things to symbols [Modify - convert to symbol]
Four: When you are trying to create the fading text, convert it to a symbol (graphic style) and then create your new keyframe, after this click back on the text you want to fade and look in the lower toolbar on the right hand side for "text effects" or something like that (I'm not looking at it right now) click and hold, drag to "alpha" and then when the % bar pops up, drag it down to 0%.
Make sure you take your time and click around, I found the tutoring sites that Lannie sent us somewhat helpful- except on the text effects: I think that it explains a different version...I could be wrong.
Hope this has helped a little.

Make sure you take your time and click around, I found the tutoring sites that Lannie sent us somewhat helpful- except on the text effects: I think that it explains a different version...I could be wrong.
Hope this has helped a little.

one more thing
I forgot to mention on tip #4 - Make sure you create the motion tween, click and hold on the frames between the two keyframes and select Create Motion Tween

Google's New Email Service (Gmail) is Cooler than SLICED BREAD!!!
I am now one of the priveledged, one of the elite few, one of the proud owners of my very own Gmail account. The great stuff about Gmail is that you never have to delete your email. You have 2G's of storage space. You can search for specific emails by keyword. Each message in your inbox is grouped with all its replies and displayed as one conversation. It really is so cool and makes other email accounts sucky. I can't refer a friend yet, but soon i can, so if you'd like your very own Gmail account email me at natecbrown@gmail.com and when I am given access i will refer you. Gmail is the future!!!

Acts 29 Network has a great FLASH site
The Acts 29 Network is an organiztion that assists in church planting/replanting. They have an awesome website like nothing I have ever seen before. It is completely Flash. You never navigate away from the main page, instead, any time you click on a navigational link on the toolbar, a floating window opens up in the window. You can have all or none of these open at one time. I love that you don't have to go from one page to another. There is little confusion once you learn how it works. (as the page is loading, it gives a quick tutorial showing how the web site works, which is a great idea) Check it out at www.acts29network.org. I think this may be the furture of websites!!
Looking for an Apartament after Graduation? Check out RENT.com
Are you looking for a place to live come May 14th? Don't want to move back in with mom and dad? Ebay has a new website Rent.com in which people can place ads for places that they need to rent out, or search for a roomate, or search for places to rent. When it's actually time to move, go to this website and compare prices for Movers so that you get the best deal. You can search across the country for a place or roomate. It's a very user friendly site. Rent.com makes searching and renting easy!! Check it out!!
What I learned today
After 20 hours straight of correcting and editing our 32 page plans book for ad-fed, this morning we learned a very valuable lesson. NEVER SAVE SOMETHING TO THE DESKTOP!!! If you do this you run the risk of having your computer crash and losing everything that you've been working on when the book is due in D.C. in less than 48 hours. Therefore, class, NEVER SAVE SOMETHING TO THE DESKTOP! Always back it up.

scotts movie link #3: Memento
Memento--a very hip movie with a hip flash site. It's not as involved as the official Saw movie page, nor does it give much of the story away. And, it allows you more freedom. Just look for the fading words in the news article on the flash pop-up. If you like the movie, you'll like the site.
If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it. It's pretty bizarre, but it does an incredible job of placing you in the head of the protagonist, which is a quality many movies lack.
Side Note: the address is www.otnemem.com...a cool domain name in line with the concept of the movie.

FREE IPOD--NO LIE.
If you have ever wanted an iPod, go here. FreeiPods.com has given away tons of iPods. All you must do is apply and complete an offer. There are several offers, such as applying for a credit card, joining a cd or dvd club, and there are a few that are hassel free and cost nothing. Then get five other people to do the same under your referral (through an email or, for example, through a link like the one I have provided.
CNN and Wired Magazine did stories and studied it and proved it's legit. If you still don't believe it, ask Aaron Harp, he's gotten his free iPod.
So what are you waiting for!

Dancing Art
I was looking up images for an art project I am working on, and I cam across this dancing ballerina. It made me laugh, but after awhile of looking at it got kind of annoying. I still want to learn how to do this though!

Quality Digital Printing
Mpix.com is a fast, easy, cheap way to buy quality digital prints. You can order prints and they will arrive in the mail within three buisness days of the order. It lets you crop the photos while online, so that you know what the end result will look like. You can even order your print already framed, in your choice of frame. The site is really easy to navigate, and if you have a digital camera then you ought to know about it.

Because your worth it
I was looking for a site where I could upload a picture of myself and "try on" hair styles. I found this site, and although it does not have exactly what I was looking for, I was so impressed it, I wanted to share.
www.loreal.com
It has some nice features:
www.loreal.com
It has some nice features:
- great graphics
- tons of information, yet organized in a way that's not overwhelming
- links to 24 country sites-- some of them are in Chinese/Japanese characters.
- nice colors--black and purple, black and red, etc. Different from the usual
- drop down menus
I wonder how the creators made it and what programs they used. It's an impressive site. How much money goes into a site like that? Am I just fooled? Is it easy like Scott said in class?
Baby Got Book
Since it is clear from my previous posts that I don't surf the internet enough to find interesting sites, I decided to ask some other people if they had visited any.
One person told me to look at www.whiteboydj.com and check out the Baby Got Book video. You should check it out. The site was interesting, but not that impressive. The video's funny, though.

Job Search
If you're looking for a job, like a lot of us seniors i found a really helpful website. If you go to the arkansasdemocratgazette.com and then click on classifieds and job search there are a lot of really good jobs out there. It doesn't list all of the "Work from home" stuff that nobody really cares about. So if you're trying to find a job staying in good 'ol Arkansas(like me) I suggest you visit this site!

How much are you worth?
This site is called www.humanforsale.com and I think it's somewhat humorous. You fill out this survey about yourself and then in some random fashion it evaluates your survey and tells you how much you are worth. I am worth $1, 791,754.00! I'm really not sure if that's good or bad, but you should try it and see how much you are worth!

New Balance
I've been looking for some new shoes, and typed in New Balance to the goggle search engine. First I visited www.newbalance.com, but it's not exactly what I was looking for. I searched the site for the shoes I was looking for, but I couldn't find them. I did look around enough to see most of the site, and I really like the way it looked. It carried the black and white picture theme throughout the website, and had tab navigation. On the tabs the dropdown menus only come down when you click on them instead of just when you mouse over them. That was nice.
Since that wasn't what I was looking for I looked again and found www.NBwebexpress.com. This site had what I was looking for, and it wasn't as frustrating. The left-side navigation was to-the-point, and it was all mapped out into easy categories. Since we talked about colors in class I've been noticing how many websites use blue and red as their main colors - but it worked for New Balance. The website was very user friendly!

Bethany Dillon
One of my new favorite CD's is my Bethany Dillon CD. When I put the CD into my computer her website pops up -which is pretty neat. I like the look and feel of her website. It has the same cozy, country feel as the CD cover. There is a place to hear clips of each of her songs, along with different navigation links. One of the links takes you to the page where she has written about each of the songs. What I really like about the page is that the background doesn't move, so when you click on one of the links only a small, separate scrolling section (which Lannie told us the name of, but I can't remember) changes. She's a great singer, and her songs have good meanings -especially for girls. Check it out - www.bethanydillon.com.
Overstock.com - overwhelming.com!
I saw a commerical advertising overstock.com, an online outlet for overstocked items at a reduced price so I checked it out. It was amazing! They seem to have everything. You can find clothes, shoes, and jewlery or gardening tools, mattresses, or restaurant items. And the prices are good too - everything seemed to be at least 30% off the regular price, and they had lots of name brands. The only thing I didn't like about the website was the way it looked. It has TONS of navigation, and a lot of it is the same color, so it's a little hard to differentiate between categories. Even though it's overwhelming I would probably still go there first if I wanted to buy something online. So go visit www.overstock.com.

McDonald's Website.....i'm lovin' it.
Wow, if you haven't visited the McDonald's Website, you're really missing out. It is by far one of the coolest and most impressive websites I've come across. Every page of the website has got amazing features. I don't even know how to explain them. Pictures expand, things pop-up (in a non-annoying way), and so much more. Seriously I can't really explain it, you just need to visit it. Lannie, could we please visit this site in class and talk about what all this fancy graphic stuff is called. Visit it, I know you'll love it too!! www.McDonalds.com
TV that Jumped the Shark
"This popular web site, JumptheShark.com, takes its name from the ignominious Happy Days episode in which Fonzie jumps over a shark on water skis elaborates on this truism, chronicling the moments when TV series began their slides into embarrassment." -in a review by Publishers Weekly
If you have a little time to waste...which it seems like I do...check it out. Search for your old favorite shows. It's pretty funny.
I like the page, "Next Monday, on a very special episode of..."

scott's movie link #2: SAW
SAW is a very entertaining movie, but not for those with weak stomachs. While reminescent of Seven, it still has it's own unique qualities and style. Plus, I like Danny Glover.
WARNING: If you have not seen SAW, then I would recommend that you watch the movie first. The site (reviewed below) doesn't really contain spoilers, but it does tell a lot of the story. Seeing the movie first will make the movie a lot more intense, and it will make the site not quite as creepy.
The official site, however, has very cool flash. You go through the game of the movie while searching the screen for the next thing to click on to advance the story. There are parts that are a little grizzly, but very watered down from the movie. It takes approx. 30 minutes (there's a timer), and while the creators recommend turning the lights off and the sound up, I recommend turning on maybe a little lamp or something. I enjoyed it, and probably wasted too much time on it.
If you're not a big fan of this gore/horror genre, I wouldn't recommend checking out any of the other links on the page. But hey, if that's your thing, no one will judge you.
Enjoy!
