Acts 29 Network has a great FLASH site
The Acts 29 Network is an organiztion that assists in church planting/replanting. They have an awesome website like nothing I have ever seen before. It is completely Flash. You never navigate away from the main page, instead, any time you click on a navigational link on the toolbar, a floating window opens up in the window. You can have all or none of these open at one time. I love that you don't have to go from one page to another. There is little confusion once you learn how it works. (as the page is loading, it gives a quick tutorial showing how the web site works, which is a great idea) Check it out at www.acts29network.org. I think this may be the furture of websites!!
Looking for an Apartament after Graduation? Check out RENT.com
Are you looking for a place to live come May 14th? Don't want to move back in with mom and dad? Ebay has a new website Rent.com in which people can place ads for places that they need to rent out, or search for a roomate, or search for places to rent. When it's actually time to move, go to this website and compare prices for Movers so that you get the best deal. You can search across the country for a place or roomate. It's a very user friendly site. Rent.com makes searching and renting easy!! Check it out!!
What I learned today
After 20 hours straight of correcting and editing our 32 page plans book for ad-fed, this morning we learned a very valuable lesson. NEVER SAVE SOMETHING TO THE DESKTOP!!! If you do this you run the risk of having your computer crash and losing everything that you've been working on when the book is due in D.C. in less than 48 hours. Therefore, class, NEVER SAVE SOMETHING TO THE DESKTOP! Always back it up.

scotts movie link #3: Memento
Memento--a very hip movie with a hip flash site. It's not as involved as the official Saw movie page, nor does it give much of the story away. And, it allows you more freedom. Just look for the fading words in the news article on the flash pop-up. If you like the movie, you'll like the site.
If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend it. It's pretty bizarre, but it does an incredible job of placing you in the head of the protagonist, which is a quality many movies lack.
Side Note: the address is www.otnemem.com...a cool domain name in line with the concept of the movie.

FREE IPOD--NO LIE.
If you have ever wanted an iPod, go here. FreeiPods.com has given away tons of iPods. All you must do is apply and complete an offer. There are several offers, such as applying for a credit card, joining a cd or dvd club, and there are a few that are hassel free and cost nothing. Then get five other people to do the same under your referral (through an email or, for example, through a link like the one I have provided.
CNN and Wired Magazine did stories and studied it and proved it's legit. If you still don't believe it, ask Aaron Harp, he's gotten his free iPod.
So what are you waiting for!

Dancing Art
I was looking up images for an art project I am working on, and I cam across this dancing ballerina. It made me laugh, but after awhile of looking at it got kind of annoying. I still want to learn how to do this though!

Quality Digital Printing
Mpix.com is a fast, easy, cheap way to buy quality digital prints. You can order prints and they will arrive in the mail within three buisness days of the order. It lets you crop the photos while online, so that you know what the end result will look like. You can even order your print already framed, in your choice of frame. The site is really easy to navigate, and if you have a digital camera then you ought to know about it.

Because your worth it
I was looking for a site where I could upload a picture of myself and "try on" hair styles. I found this site, and although it does not have exactly what I was looking for, I was so impressed it, I wanted to share.
www.loreal.com
It has some nice features:
www.loreal.com
It has some nice features:
- great graphics
- tons of information, yet organized in a way that's not overwhelming
- links to 24 country sites-- some of them are in Chinese/Japanese characters.
- nice colors--black and purple, black and red, etc. Different from the usual
- drop down menus
I wonder how the creators made it and what programs they used. It's an impressive site. How much money goes into a site like that? Am I just fooled? Is it easy like Scott said in class?
Baby Got Book
Since it is clear from my previous posts that I don't surf the internet enough to find interesting sites, I decided to ask some other people if they had visited any.
One person told me to look at www.whiteboydj.com and check out the Baby Got Book video. You should check it out. The site was interesting, but not that impressive. The video's funny, though.

Job Search
If you're looking for a job, like a lot of us seniors i found a really helpful website. If you go to the arkansasdemocratgazette.com and then click on classifieds and job search there are a lot of really good jobs out there. It doesn't list all of the "Work from home" stuff that nobody really cares about. So if you're trying to find a job staying in good 'ol Arkansas(like me) I suggest you visit this site!

How much are you worth?
This site is called www.humanforsale.com and I think it's somewhat humorous. You fill out this survey about yourself and then in some random fashion it evaluates your survey and tells you how much you are worth. I am worth $1, 791,754.00! I'm really not sure if that's good or bad, but you should try it and see how much you are worth!

New Balance
I've been looking for some new shoes, and typed in New Balance to the goggle search engine. First I visited www.newbalance.com, but it's not exactly what I was looking for. I searched the site for the shoes I was looking for, but I couldn't find them. I did look around enough to see most of the site, and I really like the way it looked. It carried the black and white picture theme throughout the website, and had tab navigation. On the tabs the dropdown menus only come down when you click on them instead of just when you mouse over them. That was nice.
Since that wasn't what I was looking for I looked again and found www.NBwebexpress.com. This site had what I was looking for, and it wasn't as frustrating. The left-side navigation was to-the-point, and it was all mapped out into easy categories. Since we talked about colors in class I've been noticing how many websites use blue and red as their main colors - but it worked for New Balance. The website was very user friendly!

Bethany Dillon
One of my new favorite CD's is my Bethany Dillon CD. When I put the CD into my computer her website pops up -which is pretty neat. I like the look and feel of her website. It has the same cozy, country feel as the CD cover. There is a place to hear clips of each of her songs, along with different navigation links. One of the links takes you to the page where she has written about each of the songs. What I really like about the page is that the background doesn't move, so when you click on one of the links only a small, separate scrolling section (which Lannie told us the name of, but I can't remember) changes. She's a great singer, and her songs have good meanings -especially for girls. Check it out - www.bethanydillon.com.
Overstock.com - overwhelming.com!
I saw a commerical advertising overstock.com, an online outlet for overstocked items at a reduced price so I checked it out. It was amazing! They seem to have everything. You can find clothes, shoes, and jewlery or gardening tools, mattresses, or restaurant items. And the prices are good too - everything seemed to be at least 30% off the regular price, and they had lots of name brands. The only thing I didn't like about the website was the way it looked. It has TONS of navigation, and a lot of it is the same color, so it's a little hard to differentiate between categories. Even though it's overwhelming I would probably still go there first if I wanted to buy something online. So go visit www.overstock.com.

McDonald's Website.....i'm lovin' it.
Wow, if you haven't visited the McDonald's Website, you're really missing out. It is by far one of the coolest and most impressive websites I've come across. Every page of the website has got amazing features. I don't even know how to explain them. Pictures expand, things pop-up (in a non-annoying way), and so much more. Seriously I can't really explain it, you just need to visit it. Lannie, could we please visit this site in class and talk about what all this fancy graphic stuff is called. Visit it, I know you'll love it too!! www.McDonalds.com
TV that Jumped the Shark
"This popular web site, JumptheShark.com, takes its name from the ignominious Happy Days episode in which Fonzie jumps over a shark on water skis elaborates on this truism, chronicling the moments when TV series began their slides into embarrassment." -in a review by Publishers Weekly
If you have a little time to waste...which it seems like I do...check it out. Search for your old favorite shows. It's pretty funny.
I like the page, "Next Monday, on a very special episode of..."

scott's movie link #2: SAW
SAW is a very entertaining movie, but not for those with weak stomachs. While reminescent of Seven, it still has it's own unique qualities and style. Plus, I like Danny Glover.
WARNING: If you have not seen SAW, then I would recommend that you watch the movie first. The site (reviewed below) doesn't really contain spoilers, but it does tell a lot of the story. Seeing the movie first will make the movie a lot more intense, and it will make the site not quite as creepy.
The official site, however, has very cool flash. You go through the game of the movie while searching the screen for the next thing to click on to advance the story. There are parts that are a little grizzly, but very watered down from the movie. It takes approx. 30 minutes (there's a timer), and while the creators recommend turning the lights off and the sound up, I recommend turning on maybe a little lamp or something. I enjoyed it, and probably wasted too much time on it.
If you're not a big fan of this gore/horror genre, I wouldn't recommend checking out any of the other links on the page. But hey, if that's your thing, no one will judge you.
Enjoy!

How to Write Compelling Blog Posts
I'm still getting questions about what to write for the blog and how to write it even though we have reviewed about six times so far. On the how to write, I would like to refer you to an article in from Marketing Profs entitled How to Write Compelling Blog Posts.
