Mullets!!!

Well...I was looking for some hair styles and I found this site:
www.mulletsgalore.com
It's kind of interesting and has some neat ideas. Oh, and there are some fun pictures of well, mullets. Mostly I think it would be a fun site to visit if you are a fourteen year old boy or if you are really bored. Anyway, I have decided not to get a mullet...just so everyone knows. Hope you all have a wonderful weekend. :)

rent.com

If anyone's looking for an apartment may I suggest rent.com? It's a website that has pictures of a lot of apartements, plus it shows the floorplans, price range, deposits, pets, and all that other good stuff you need to know when looking for a place to live. Also, there are cupons that you can print out to take to the apartment that will take $100 off your deposit because you found it on rent.com

onion

If you're bored and looking for a funny website visit theonion.com. It makes a farce of current events and news stories and a lot of them are really funny! So check it out when you have time.

Barnes & Noble Website

This is a great website for those looking for the perfect book, dvd or cd. They've got everything!! Even out of print and used books. The website is very visually soothing because it uses nice earth tones. It really does make you want to read a good book. Or for me...start reading books. haha (that was dumb!) Anyways. Check out this site at www.BN.com

IKEA

More great shopping online at Ikea. This is a Switzerland based company. Products are good quality and cheap. Yes, I have purchased products from them. They ship all over the world. Many stores are poping up across the US. Locate the store near you.

Wicked

Wicked: The Untold story of the Witches of Oz is a favorite musical of mine. Wickedthemusical.com is a fun site with interactive links that tell the story of the musical, fun downloads, and music clips. If you enjoy musicals this is a great site!

Amityville

While I was exploring www.howstuffworks.com when I came across the horror story of Amityville. This caught my attention because some friends and I went to see it last weekend. I didn't really see more than 5 minutes of it because I'm terrified of scary movies. So on this site I was able to find the story behind the haunted house. It gave me chills. Check it out if you are planning to see the movie.

Movie Tickets

Don't miss your chance to see Star Wars opening day buy tickets online. Buy tickets, check the ratings and reviews at moviestickets.com.

Overstock

If you need anything and need it cheap check out overstock.com. They sell everything from earrings to tents.

container store

I really enjoy being organized, and even more I really enjoy The Container Store. It's a very organized page, and the colors go with the entire store theme. They even have a link for college bound students. They have links on how to plan a space or how to organize a project. It's pretty neat. www.containerstore.com

filmwise

A friend recently introduced me to www.filmwise.com It's a great site, although I haven't come to love it as much as I love imdb.com... However, this site can be entertaining (or humbling) for movie lovers. If you go to the site and find the link for quizzes or invisibles - you'll find hours of entertainment. The invisibles are scenes from movies with the people removed but clothes remain, and you have the opportunity to guess what the movie is. There are competitions weekly for these, or you can just do them for fun. I've already spent a bunch of time on the invisibles and find them quite enjoyable.
The people that made the site also created the board game Scene It, so movie lovers have a lot to thank them about... Check it out.

facebook

A friend from Hendrix College visited me a little over a week ago and showed me his facebook account. I was quite interested. Facebook could be compared to Xanga, but it is much different. Facebook allows you to search for friends if you know their current college, or search by year and school of high school graduation. It was pretty cool to see the Facebook pages of people I haven't talked to since graduation. My friend told me that he talks to people he never remembers seeing, but now they keep in touch. It's a great way to find long lost friends.
I have yet to create a xanga site but if OBU gets Facebook, I am definitely joining in. If you know someone who has facebook, check it out - you'll be amazed.
If you want to see the homepage here's the link www.thefacebook.com

bored? don't be.

Over spring break I had a lot of time on my hands and rediscovered www.bored.com I hadn't visited the site in years but found it somewhat entertaining. For those looking for something to do or just a little laugh they have tons of things to do on the site: quizzes, surveys, jokes, pictures, etc...
Some of the humor is a bit crude but it can help pass the time if you need to.
To critique just a bit, I thought their homepage was way too big - this forces the user to scroll down a lot in order to see all the options that the site has. But in the world of boredom, beggars can't be choosers.

Tigernet

One of the pages I visit most often is the Tigernet, Ouachita Baptist University's student intranet. It has links to the school's organizations page, the Tigerclassifieds (a page dedicated to students and faculty that have announcements or items in need or in need of selling), and it also has many helpful reference links on the right of the page. These are helpful, of course, only if you are a student of Ouachita Baptist University or a prospective student. Lastly, it has a very helpful directory page (you can only access it if you are a student or faculty member) for locating the mailbox or phone number of other students or professors.

Overall I am a big fan of this site and I recommend you check it out (just so long as you are a student or faculty member at Ouachita Baptist University)!

Get Free Stuff!!!

Wow! There are a lot of sites where you can find out about free stuff that is available.
To me it just seems like a hassle and not worth the time, but it could be a amusing if you were just bored.
This site is one in the U.K.

www.studentfreestuff.com
The top ten free things are:

1. Free £50 Cash
2. Free Beer
3. Free £250 Cash
4. 10 Free Photo Print
5. Free DVD & CD
6. First Issue Free
7. Free Music CDs
8. Free Gift
9. Free Poly Ringtone
10. Free music CD

Amazing Race

I love watching the Amazing Race! It's one of the only reality TV shows that I watch. Teams go around the world and follow clues and complete challenges. Sometimes I miss the latest episodes so I go to CBS.com and click on the Amazing Race link at the top, then click on the picture that appears on the main part of the screen. You can look up information about each team and you can even watch small video clips if you have the right coputer equipment. I never do, but that's why I watch the show!

Learn the Argentine Tango on the Internet

Did you know that you can learn to dance on the internet?

Just go to http://home.att.net/~larrydla/basics_0.html

Actually the site is really boring and is basically a book on-line.
The idea is a good one, though, and would be a good project for a website to redesign.
Think of all the cool things you could do. You could have cartoons demonstrating the steps.
Flash would be a neat program to use.

kingdom of heaven

I saw a commercial for a new movie called Kingdom of Heaven. I looked up the website because I had no idea what the movie was going to be about. I still don't know. The website looked just like the movie, but it didn't really give me any information. There was a place where I could go to certain scenes, but I didn't know what to look for since I didn't know what the movie was about in general. I lost interest quickly so I gave up - it's probably an interesting movie, but I'll never know. It doesn't look like something I would like.

more shopping

Most of you Dallas girls know what Sam Moon is, but for everyone else it is a huge accessories store. It's fun and they have a lot of cute jewlery, but the only downfall is it's in Dallas. I have recently discovered sammoon.com!! It has all the same products as the store with the convience of ordering online! The prices are great and shipping isn't bad either!! You should check it out!!

addictinggames.com

If you have a lot of free time on your hands or you just need a break this site is great. It has hundreds of games that range from sports to board games. At the top of the page it has the most played games and I think that it updates it weekly. All of the other games are listed by category. Beware though, you will spend many hours here and not mean to.

Cool Sites

I was desperate to find something to blog about.
In my desperation, I typed in "cool sites" to Google.
I found coolsiteoftheday.com.
Everyday this site takes votes of the site of the day. It is interesting to look at all the linked sites in the archives.

There is also a icon that links to ringtones for your phone.

E page

One of the websites that I visit most is the EEE page (a link from the tigernet). It's ironic that I visit it so much since it is so awful! There's not anything fancy about it at all. Some of the links don't have anything on them, and the only one that is worth looking at is our guestbook. The guestbook is just a place for us to write announcements, or ask general questions, or for alumni to write and tell us what they're doing. There are a few pictures, but just of the one girl that tried to fix it a long time ago and her friends . . . its nothing to brag about.

A mom of one of our new pledges volunteered to take over and fix the site and keep it semi-updated, but nothing has happened yet. Hopefully something will happen over the summer. So don't go visit the site unless you have to, you'll be disappointed.

Hello Little Rock

My good friend Beth Woolley introduced me to a really neat job search website yesterday that I had never heard of. It's HelloLittleRock.com. This was a site with jobs that were with really recognizable companies. It had postings for Alltell, Acxiom, and some other big Arkansas companies. It also had links that would take you directly to the company's website so that you could apply for the job online. I thought it was really helpful.

my brother is a skater

My little brother, Jordan is really into rollerblading. A skate park opened in our city a few years ago and he's been practicing ever since. I looked up the skate park website, www.gpxsk8.com. There's a link called GPX team or something, which has his picture and a little bio (which is not all true) in Acrobat Reader. The flash that they use is a little too busy, but once it stops it's a pretty nice looking site. It matches all the flyers, and posters and all their advertising around town.

Russel stole my post

Russell, you totally stole my #1 favorite site, IMDb.com. I was going to make a post about that site, and now I cannot do so. I thought we were friends, man.

Rent Movies Online

For all you movie lovers out there, Blockbuster.com allows you to pay a monthly fee and chose movies that you would like to rent. You can either pick the movies up at a Blockbuster near you or they can be sent to you. For a low monthly fee you can watch as many movies as you would like. All you have to do is choose a movie, watch it, return it, and choose another one. Sounds like a good deal!!

American Idol

So I love American Idol and of course I visit the website frequently. It's a fun, interactive site that gives you fun facts and behind the scences kinda things about the show. I have also learned that Entertainment Tonight gives clips of the show before it airs. So if you just can't wait to find out what the music theme of the week is or who gets kicked off before the show airs, you can check out entertainment tonight!

imbd.com

Have you ever wondered how you can find out the name of a character in a movie without actually looking through the credits at the end of the movie? Maybe you want to look up an exact quote from a movie... or maybe you just want to find out what a movie is about.
Try going to www.imdb.com (internet movie database). It is an incredibly thorough site that (they claim) contains information about any movie ever made. You can see who directed or starred in a film. They have memorable quotes, a synopsis of the plot, and reasons for the rating of the film.
I discovered this site a few years ago and use it often to glean quotes and find out more about the movie in general.
It is fairly simple in its design but has a number of options that can help to make you an expert on any movie. Another great thing about the site is that it gives weekly updates on what is being released in theaters, on dvd, and what is tops at the box office.
You should really use this site if you're a movie buff or just wanting to know more about a movie you're going to see. Russ

Rob Thomas

Rob Thomas's new cd is due out April 19. His site is really exciting too! I don't know how to make squares pop up like on his site www.robthomasmusic.com I thought this site might be a little inspiration to someone.

Dasani

Because i'm addicted to Dasani lemon flavored water I thought I must check out the site. My main quest is to find out when it will be sold at Wal-MArt in 12 packs. This flash site has many fun things to keep you amused for minutes or hours. I still don't know the answer to my question.

ATTN: SENIORS

For those of you who like me are graduating in 4 weeks and have no idea what you're going to do with yourself or where you're going to do it I may have a solution. Tuesday May 3 at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock there is supposedly the biggest job fair in the state. You can find more info about it on arkansasdemocratgazette.com. I know I'm planning on going if anyone else wants to go with me. (That's if it's okay with you, Lannie)

ultimate-guitar.com

For anyone interested in playing the guitar but not to good at playing by ear this site is perfect. It has just about any kind of sheet music a person could look for. Out of all the guitar tab sites I have looked at this one is by far the best. The tabs are listed alphabetically and you can also search by song title or band title. It has links for current news in music, contests you can enter, and various other things. It also has a place where you can submit your own tabs if you have one that is not already listed.

Flash tips

I finished my Flash project this afternoon, and thought I'd post a few tips/reminders that might help you all get through it faster and with less trouble. If you're like me, you're still a little shaky and have forgotten a few things since the last time we had class.

One: I created each object on a different layer - it takes up time but I think it keeps it simple by keeping the objects separated
Two: I'd create anything (text or object) that you wish to remain stationary during the clip in the first layer - then move on to creating other (moving) objects and text.
Three: Make sure you are converting things to symbols [Modify - convert to symbol]
Four: When you are trying to create the fading text, convert it to a symbol (graphic style) and then create your new keyframe, after this click back on the text you want to fade and look in the lower toolbar on the right hand side for "text effects" or something like that (I'm not looking at it right now) click and hold, drag to "alpha" and then when the % bar pops up, drag it down to 0%.

Make sure you take your time and click around, I found the tutoring sites that Lannie sent us somewhat helpful- except on the text effects: I think that it explains a different version...I could be wrong.

Hope this has helped a little.
-Russ

one more thing

I forgot to mention on tip #4 - Make sure you create the motion tween, click and hold on the frames between the two keyframes and select Create Motion Tween

sorry for the omission
Russ

If you are looking for a FUN job in the outdoors check out www.funjobs.com. National parks and ski resorts are just some of the types of companies featured on this site.

Google's New Email Service (Gmail) is Cooler than SLICED BREAD!!!

I am now one of the priveledged, one of the elite few, one of the proud owners of my very own Gmail account. The great stuff about Gmail is that you never have to delete your email. You have 2G's of storage space. You can search for specific emails by keyword. Each message in your inbox is grouped with all its replies and displayed as one conversation. It really is so cool and makes other email accounts sucky. I can't refer a friend yet, but soon i can, so if you'd like your very own Gmail account email me at natecbrown@gmail.com and when I am given access i will refer you. Gmail is the future!!!
