if you have had any interaction with the underground music scene (this is for you gary), then you are probably aware of the beautiful orchestral hooks and the language of 'hopelandic' in which sigur ros's lead singer, jonsi, portrays his art. with the release of their much anticipated new album, "Takk," sigur ros is more cohesive than ever in the conceptual and abstract realms, but they never fail to translate it into the concrete language of thoughtful, or classically inclined individuals.
their website is equally endearing, and they make an effort to make the site just as beautiful as their music. give it a shot and if i can't convince you that their website is neat, perhaps it wouldn't do any harm to buy their latest album to give your life's soundtrack a little more aesthetic appeal..

Chapel
I hate that I am taking Open Chapel at this time. From what I hear the past two chapels have been very good. I was very disappointed to miss the chapel today. I don't know if I can still attend chapel, if I wanted too, eventhough I don't have a seat. Today's chapel is being talked about all over campus because the guy who spoke supposedly "crossed the line" or was just a little out there with his descriptions and statistics. Since I wasn't there I don't know what was said, but it must have been interesting. So Kudos to Ian this fall for stepping it up in the chapel schedule. If anyone knows if I can attend chapel without having a seat, let me know. And NO I will not go in your place...I am a Kappa and we all know about Chapelgate! Also, I would like to know what was said or if I could get the tape just to watch this speaker!
Posting
So no one has written a post in a long time. Well here is a post about posting. Some may say that it takes time and effort to come up with a good post. We all want something everyone will read and say, "Wow, that was a good informative post." or, "Wow, that was a really funny post." I feel that posts should be random and about anything that may spark our interest that we feel we need to share with the class. Yeah sure we have to get ten done over the course of the semester, Lannie just wants us to show we know how to use this and that we are responsible enough to keep the blog from "dying" as he put it at the beginging of class. So whatever comes to your mind post about it, it doesn't have to be perfect or amazing, it just has to be a post that you are happy with. Now that I've typed all that, and that you have hopefully read it, happy postings everyone!

Fall Break
Over the break I plan on going hiking with a few of my friends. I got some new gear this summer and I just wanna let you know a little bit about it! My tent is a solo PCT 1 mountain hardware. The PCT 1 is a double walled backpacking tent for one person. This solo is a sleek canopy with great ventilation. It weighs a little more than 3 pounds and fits well in my Kelty 5600 pack. I also own a 5 degree mountain hardware mummy bag. My tent is appropriate for the hiking and climbing I will do this year, but the bag and pack are pretty intense and I don't plan on going on any 7-10 day trips in weather less than 20 degrees anytime soon! But if you would like to check any of these items or more really interesting products out take a look at

e-bayhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.spell.gif
I agree with Lauren's post about Paypal, but once you get your Paypal account setup, e-bay is great fun. The first time I used e-bay to buy something I thought it would be difficult, but the site is very easy to use. You can set up an account, seach for items you are interested in buying, watch the items in your e-bay, and then bid on the item if you think the price is right. Most sellers accept paypal and if you have your paypal account setup all you have to do is push pay and the money is automatically transfered from your account to the seller's account. Then within a week (most of the time) you will recieve your item in the mail. If you have never used e-bay before I would encourage you to try it. I have found some great things at really low prices. It is easy and trustworthy. Once you get started it is hard to stop.
Katrina again!
I don't think we should take this lightly, but the media has covered Katrina a lil much, it's been good, but still it's getting boring. But last night while watching Monday Night Football I did enjoy and appreicate the dedication of the past hall-of-famers taking donations and calls on live television. I'm pretty sure that every commercial and each break something was said about the hurricane. The BushClinton Fund or whatever it's called has raised tons of money, and who knows what they made last night, but my question is will this continue each week until the Super Bowl? That's gonna get redundant! I wonder what else we can do in the media to raise money in a new, interesting way?

Relevant Magazine
Most Christian magazines today are a great source for information on music, movies, and books that all relate to Christianity. However, it's very hard to find one that provides a good mix of both mainstream and Christian entertainment. Look no further then Relevant Magazine. This magazine includes stories about music both christian and non-christian. I really enjoy looking at the website to, because it includes many updates and links to alot of bands, movies, or other news that I am interested in. Relevent is a great idea because it is Christian based, but does not ignore all of the other great entertainment that the non-Christian world is making. Check out the website at www.relevantmagazine.com
Mountain Biking
About two years ago I decided to get into the sport of mountain biking. I bought a Specialized Hardrock. I love the bike, and have since made several modifications to it. A really reliable website that I have used is called pricepoint. It has extremely low prices and also gives combinations of products that helps to make the prices lower. They are quick to send you the stuff you buy to. So, for all of you bikers out there, check it out...It's a great site.

RITA
We're in for another hurricane. "Rita" has just torn through the Keys and is on its way to the gulf. www.weather.com sponsored be The Weather Channel, predicts the hurricane to hit land between texas and new orleans by the end of the week.
THE RETURN OF UNPLUGGED!
Unless you lived under a proverbial rock growing up, I'm sure you are all familiar with the now virtually obsolete, although fondly remembered by us children of the 90s - MTV's "Unplugged." It featured heavy alternative groups such as Nirvana and Alice in Chains, rap phenom LL Cool J, and legendary artists such as KISS and Eric Clapton stripped down for live acoustic performances. Finally MTV has taken a step in the right direction (a rarity for this now reality show-laden "music" channel) and has recorded a brand spankin' new Unplugged set with the contemporary R&B diva - Alicia Keys. You can check it out now at www.overdrive.mtv.com

Ctrl+Alt+Del
Now I know not all of us are video game fans. I'm not that big of a fan of them but I do enjoy the occasional gaming experience, but before I go out and rent one or buy I like to do a little background work on the game so I don't waste my money. One site I find very useful for this is www.ctrlaltdel-online.com, now I should mention this is mainly an online web comic about two guys that play of all things video games, the archives take a while to read through but in doing so I've found several reviews the artist does in the comics. If he likes the game the characters talk it up, if not that game becomes the end of several punch-lines and you get a good laugh out of it. Unless you like the game. Over all a great site with a few pretty cool features and links to other cool sites.
Pay Pal sucks
i hate pay pal. i bought a new nalgene on ebay and i can't figure out how to pay for it using my pay pal. i have bought a few things on ebay before so this is not my first time. why is this so difficult? the ebay web site www.ebay.com is very difficult to navagate through when you are trying to pay. maybe it's just for me. but i can't figure out how to may for my nalgene. everytime i click on pay now. it takes me to the paypal and i do it but then it keeps sending me to the same sites over and over. i thought i was more computer knowledgable than this... obviously not.

Copeland
One of my favorite bands right now is Copeland. They are known for their distinct harmonies and memorable melodic lines. The songs they sing have no trouble being stuck in your head the first couple of times you hear them. Their website, www.thecopelandsite.com, has all kinds of neat media to help find out more about this awesome band.
NFL football
Personally, i am not a fan of the NFL, but there are many that are. The site is www.NFL.Com
Jerad and his group of friends love to go to NFL.com because they don't have cable in their apartment, so they can't keep up with scores, so they utilize this website for players updates, scores of games, and also just NFL news. I found that the site was good because it has all the teams across the top and you click on your team and it leads you to that teams page with current news, scores, players and more. the navigation is good, colors are congruant throughout the website, and even though i don't like the NFL, i could easily find what i might be looking for such as a certain player, how many points he scored, and so on.

Pine Cove
I spent this past summer working at Pine Cove Christian Camps in Tyler, TX. Pine Cove is a neat place, and so is its website, www.pinecove.com. The site was completely revamped this summer and now includes an extensive photo gallery of everything that went on at camp. If you ever get bored, you should check it out. You could waste hours browsing the photos...
Addicting games is wasting my time
my new motivation for procrastination is www.addictinggames.com
This site allows you to play games without dowloading them onto your computers memory. i find myself wasting time looking for any new game a havent played yet, out of a library of thousands.

The terrors of Facebook
So I think facebook is getting really annoying. I get about 10 emails a day from people changing my wall or asking me to be my friend. I never thought friendship could be so annoying.

The Polyphonic Spree
This weekend I'll be making a trip down to Dallas to check out an amazing band known as The Polyphonic Spree. At first glance this 22 member ensemble might seem quite strange in their multi-colored robes and assorted instruments, but there is no denying their catchy and likeable sound and positive lyrics. Formed in 1999 by frontman Tim Delaugther, this band has grown in it's popularity, and has had it's music featured in Hollywood films like the upcoming film "Thumbsucker". To read more about this truely innovative band, check out their website, www.thepolyphonicspree.com
What is...
For all you computer-impaired out there--there is hope!! I found this website www.whatis.com that can define any computer term you can think of. You might want to go ahead and add it to your favorites list because I'm sure it will come in handy for this class.
number 4
This weekend I'm headed to Fayetteville to see Edwin Mccain for the fourth time. Get a life right? Edwin had a few hits in the early 90's and not much has made it big since but he's still around and still making great music. His website is great. You can pick up new merchandise, like the new "Live at the Hard Rock" DVD, and get tour information. The site also streams 5 or 6 songs that can be played through your web browser. Check it out www.edwin.com

If you get a chance check it out. www.deathcabforcutie.com Read up on them and maybe give them a listen They just came out with a new cd, "Plans." It is amazing!

Lannie rocks @ the internet
i find that i spend too much time on the internet, but in doing so i also find many entertaining websites. web design is an interest of mine and i started with geocities. i refuse to pay for any program to help get me started on personal web design. music sites of all kinds interest me the most. one of my favorite bands is incubus. these guys are pretty up to date on the technology and growth of the popularity of the web. i am sure they have someone create their site, but it has many links, not only to all about their music and products, but also personal interest of band members. i have found many interesting things about the band and each member.
check out enjoyincubus.com, it's on my new site that we made through html or just google it!

music is a major passsion for me, and, as such, I really make an effort to stay on top of up-and-coming artists, new releases from my favorite artists, and gaining new knowledge to add to my well-spring of useless trivia. on that note (no pun intended) there's an awesome review of kanye west's new album, late registration, on www.rollingstone.com! definitely check out the article and the album!! you won't regret it!
