i hate james davis. com

I know my last post was about photography, but a friend of mine introduced me to an interesting site tonight. www.ihatejamesdavis.com is a site that a guy up north made with some of his photography, mostly of bands at concerts, but I thought he had a unique style. maybe you'll argee.

heisman watch

out of the 9 heisman nominees i think reggie bush will get it. i REALLY like college football, but let's be honest here i'm a girl and i really don't know ALLLLL that much about it. but i just really think reggie bush will get the heisman this year. if he doesn't and there's a suprise winner i think it'll be vince young, but i think matt lienart deserves it more than vince young but not as much as reggie bush. they tie i guess to me, but since matt won it last year i think that reggie should have a chance. that's what i think about that. on a seperate note, i really want texas to beat usc this year and i'm not even a texas fan. i just really want usc to lose. ok glad i could get that out.

ebay for xmas?

i know that ebay is old news but i recently realized i could ask for things on ebay for xmas. i thought it was a great idea. my parents don't ebay (they're not that cool) but i'm bidding on my new shoes! i can't wait!

potterybarn

ok so christmas is coming up and i think everyone should go to potterybarn to buy some of their christmas presents because the stuff there is very cute.

facebook addictions

so there really is a real thing now about people who claim to be addicted to facebook. it's really funny, but serious.... not so sure. go here.

Relevant.

Even though they typically stretch themselves to inform their theology with contemporary culture, relevant magazine usually has a ton of good things to say in ways that are acceptable and relational to this generation of people. the magazine has a great layout and good design, and the website is the perfect companion for videos, news updates, and resources for postmodern living in a christian context.

www.relevantmag.com

URBN

we're all people who don't like being naked around each other for the most part. we like clothing on our bodies, pictures on our walls, and books to decorate our thoughts. you are likely to find some of the few appealing things about american culture at urbn.com. check it.

Open Chapel

Open Chapel is not a good idea...if you lose things often! I don't and wouldn't consider myself one to do so, but I did! I lost my green sheet that we have to get signed at each event. I have gone to many more than what was required of me, but I lost my sheet and just kept going to events because I didn't know it was going to be a problem. Well I went and talked to Ken Miles about this and he said I had to start over. So I did! There are exactly 8 events left and I have to go to everything! There's not a link for me to relate this to the internet, but go to www.obu.edu and complain for me. Maybe it's in the catalog or cirriculum.

Go find it...

Another Facebook Post

So I thought of a good idea(well, at least I think it's good) the other day. Facebook has these new photo albums and ways to kind of personalize your profile. Well, I think it would be neat if you could have a "theme song" that would play when people looked at your profile. It would be a good way to help promote music you like, plus you can have a song that helps describe you a little better. It's actually probably a terrible idea and would never work, so disregard this post. drew

Stars is a good band, i think.

i like to look at the websites of bands i listen to because it gives me a more real proximity to the people in the band. the better insight i can gain into the lives and attitudes of people in bands, the less obscure their themes become. stars is a great example of a band that presents itself as lofty and simultaneously familiar. their website is easy to navigate and provides a lot of information and avoids obscurity. what else could you want from a website?

here's the URL. http://www.arts-crafts.ca/stars/

Black Friday

I don't do much shopping online, but I know that tons of people do. I'm sure I will one day, but I think I do get into much of that because I don't have any money. We have talked about sites like amazon.com, ebay.com, and yahoo. I doubt any of you will reply or even read this, but if you do, you should comment and tell me what you want for Christmas. I am not going to buy it for you, but I know Santa. I will let him know! Good luck in the next two weeks!

jowlers!!!!

Go to this site! It's the newest thing! All the cool kids are doin it! Jowlers UNITE!!! www.jowlers.com

betterphoto

Photography is a hobby of mine and I was introduced to a site the other day by Dr. Downs that I have really enjoyed browsing. The site is www.betterphoto.com and it is filled with photos people have taken along with lots of helpful photography tips. If you like photography you should scan the site.

Mapquest or Rand McNally?

Sooo, I decided to see which website might give me better driving directions: Mapquest or Rand McNally. Sometimes Mapquest gives funny directions, and, since Rand McNally also markets maps in print, I think I would be more willing to trust them. I went to both websites and put in my starting point and destination, and both sites gave me basically the same directions. However, Rand McNally said the trip would take 7 hours and 25 minutes, but Mapquest said it would only take me 6 hours and 46 minutes to go the same route. Hmmmm. There's something fishy here. I do think that I like Rand McNally better, though. Their website looks more professional to me, and it seems easier to navigate. That's just my opinion.
if you're in a hurry and need to know the weather on any point on the planet, www.weather.com can fill that need. it can give you current weather. hour by hour, or ten day forcasts.
when i want to waste time i go to www.ebaumsworld.com. if the internet was created to make you feel better about yourself, then this site fills that purpose. whats funnier than redneck failure?

splotches

For those of you who like art, Asian culture, or who have lots of free time:

splotches

The design is excellent, in my opinion, and the art is interesting, as well. I think the site is eventually going to do a feature on art in the west, so be on the lookout for that.

Readymade Magazine

Oh, man, Readymade Magazine is super!

Dallas Mavericks

If you're a fan of the NBA then pay careful attention to the Dallas Mavericks. This club is 7-2 this season and just defeated the "undefeated" Detroit Pistons their first loss of the year this past saturday night. The Mavericks are known for having an exciting "run and gun offense" and they are usually involved in alot of close, exciting games throughout the season. For ticket information, or anything else go to www.mavs.com

Lovedrug

I've had a chance to see this band twice and it never gets old. This four-member band from Canton, Ohio is just getting started and I can only expect good things to come from them. After revently finishing a tour with The Juliana Theory, they are in the stages of writing their second album. Their first album, 2004's "Pretend You're Alive" was a huge hit for small label Militia Group, and this group seems to have a very promising future ahead of them. www.lovedrugmusic.com

Barsuk Records

This tiny indie record label based in Seattle has allowed for bands to break through to the big time such as Death Cab for Cutie, and rising stars Rilo Kiley. The label is less than ten years old and has put out some great albums. If you are a fan of indie rock, then there is probably a band on this label that you will really dig. Check out more at www.barsuk.com

Jarhead

I haven't seen the movie yet, but the website really makes me want to. The new military film "Jarhead" has a pretty cool website that I would encourage you to check out if you get a chance. The site seems endless, and sort of tells the story of the movie as you move through it. It's hard to describe, but it's really neat. It even has a dictionary of military "slang" terms which I found interesting. www.jarheadmovie.com

Texas Tickets

This site is great because it allows people like me to purchase tickets online for shows that are at much smaller venues. While the ticketmaster website has a decent selection of concert tickets, this website has nearly all of those and much MORE! The site is called www.texastickets.com and it has tickets for alot of the "smaller" acts out there, plus some of the biggest names in music. The prices can be pricey at times, but it's very convenient for someone who lives 4 hours from Dallas like we do. Check it out!

white house black market

i love this company called "white house/black market"! its a new company i've found and they sell monochromatic clothing, hence white and black clothes! they also sell shoes, accessories, and jewerly.....its really cute the website is www.whiteandblack.com
The clothes are kinda pricey maybe bannana republic ish? but they are really cute! they also send you catalogs in the mail so you can see whats new that month, and they have online ordering so you can for sure do that! its just a great cute clothing line...so enjoy!!!

umm...it's me again...

For all of you who feel as remedial as I do in Online Design... Do check out that Dreamweaver Help Site! It walks you through everything... And who doesn't like to have their hand held?... Anyway, in case you deleted the e-mail that Lannie sent with the website on it... here it is again!... http://www.uwec.edu/help/dwmx.htm

Havaianas

These flip-flops are awesome. They have a reputation for being the world's best rubber flip-flops, and are all produced in Brazil! I bought a pair last summer and found myself wearing them all the time! Maybe next summer you can pick up a pair when it's warmer. They come in alot of different colors and designs. www.havaianasus.com

vintage 21

I don't know if anyone has already posted about this, but there are some really funny videos at vintage21.com. They are done by a youth group who was fed up with the image we paint of Jesus. The videos are overdubs of the Jesus videos that have been taken worldwide. They are definately worth checking out.

Dallas Cowboys

America's team is back in business baby! The Dallas Cowboys are off to their best start in the last six years. With a record of 6-3 the Cowboys are sending a message to the NFL and its fans, "we're good now". It's great to see Bill Parcells hard work finally pay off! I encourage you to tune in and root for the Cowboys this Thanksgiving! Here's their website to learn more: www.dallascowboys.com How bout' them Cowboys!!

A good investment

For those of you who are interested in stock ownership, there is a fairly new company that has lowered it's stock price to roughly $5 dollars a share. I am not a finance or accounting major, but I do enjoy the stock market and investing. So what I'm getting at here is going to benefit all of you who choose to invest in this company. You can't beat $5 a share! There 3 quarter sales were down, but with the holiday season upon us the 4 quarter sales will rise. For example, say I'm going to buy 20 shares at $5 a share...$100 for 20 shares and in 1 month with an expected 4th quarter sales of a 17% increase you are looking at making .85 cents for each share! That's good and it's only going to increase more and more as the store gains credibility so check it out if you want on www.nyse.com or www.gandermountain.com!

concert last friday

I enjoyed myself at the concert that took place at Thrio's on Friday. Besides it being extremely hot because thrio's is too cheap to pay for air conditioning, the concert was good. Some of my friends in the band Father Maple played as well as a member from the band Caedmon's Call, Andrew Osanga. Andrew did really well, even though he didn't even have a set list, and he forgot some of his own words. But in spite of that, he seemed very gunuine. You can listen to both of these bands at myspace.

The Triptych

Who woulda thought that the Fine Arts class at OBU would teach me something I could apply in real life situations. Demon Hunter's new cd released about two weeks ago called "The Triptych" wierd name right? Well thinking back to what I learned in Fine Arts, a triptych is a three panal painting that makes makes one big picture. This new cd has three different art covers, when put together reveal three different looking skulls. Not only is it an awesome cd but the art on each cover is really tight. If the pics show up, I have the one that looks like a big spider. BTW it is a Christian band, they are really good. The vocals are amazing.

hey adam davis!... this one's for you, baby!

If you love friggin' awesome music... check out a couple of Kings of Leon tunes, performed live at RollingStone.com! Umm... I guess I'll just let the music speak for itself...

Mac make-up

It's me again. I was on a site today that I thought was really neat and easy to use. Some of the girls in the class who like fun make-up should give'er a look. is the link. You can look for each kind of make-up by clicking eyes, cheeks, lips, etc. then view all the awesome colors. Enjoy.

facebook

I am sure you all know, but Facebook now has photo albums. What a great idea. I have really enjoyed looking at photo albums of friends I haven't seen since high school. And you can see pictures of them from every person's album they are in. By mousing over the names a box will appear over the person matching with the name if you don't know who is who. So much better than Photobucket! Facebook just keeps getting better!

the mall sucks!

For all you guys (and maybe some of you girls) who dread hitting the mall this Christmas to shop for moms and girlfriends at Bath and Body Works... HAVE NO FEAR! BathandBodyWorks.com opened as an e-commerce site at last month's end! Just in time for the holidays! Anyhoo... for you shopping-phobes BBW has opened this site just for you! Now you just have to find out what us girls are wanting... GOOD LUCK!

Wasting time

Any time i get bored and need to waste more time i can always count on www.ebaumsworld.com. There are endless archives of videos and ictures of people being stupid. if the internet was invented to make you feel better about yourself, than this site fullfills that purpose.

Weekend Plans

So it occurred to me while I was planning my weekend that there is a website that I often find convenient when doing so. Finally, something to share. I love movies. Especially in the theater! So www.moviefone.com is a great tool to see what, when and where movies are showing, and what the movies are about. It also has some other services that I don't use but maybe you would. So yea...next time you're planning to go see a movie check it out. THE END

yahoo

I know most everyone in here has used Yahoo before, but I just wanted to comment on the usefulness of their site. I was needing to find directions to a concert this weekend in Ft. Worth and I went to Yahoo, clicked on maps typed in my destination, and had instant directions. I was then interested in seeing what movies were playing in Ft. Worth and the times. I clicked on movies, typed in the area code, and a listed of theaters, shows and times came up. It was nice to have so many options on one site. Not to mention e-mail, the search engine, games, messenger, etc. Props to Yahoo.

Back Country

I don't know about you but I love the outdoors. Whenever I get a chance I enjoy taking time to go backpacking or hunting in the gorgeous natural state! This website, backcountry.com has plenty of great products to help make these excursions more enjoyable and productive for you. From tents to backpacks to Nalgene bottles, this website has everything! Visit backcountry.com today for all of your outdoor needs!

Wikipedia

i found this website wikipedia.com, which is basically an online encyclopedia that makes nice use of web design technology to offer the user an easily navigable interface for locating as much information about topics and those to which they are related (there are sometimes fifty or sixty links per article!). my favorite feature though, is probably the "random" function, in which the encyclopedia randomly locates a topic for your pleasure. this is a productive and educational way to spend time.

NBA

The NBA is going to enforce a dress code that is more professional. I think it's great for the league, players, coaches, and fans. The recent image that the NBA has sent to our youth is a more urban look with outrageous clothing and accessories. Some players do not agree with the new dress code, but for the most part these are the players that are causing problems. In a couple of weeks we will be seeing lots of footage from the year anniversary of the worst fight in professional sports between the Pistons and the Pacers. This year is going to be a good year for the NBA as they are cleaning up their act and trying to get back the audience it had in the early to mid 90's. The professional sports world needs basketball to come back and be like it was in the Jordan era! Not many people like to watch the NBA anymore from my understanding, but this year is going to bring it back...mark my words!

sorry lannie...here's the website, http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=2194537
