Embedding Videos in the Blog

This is to show how to embed videos in the blog. You simply copy the text in the embed box and paste it to the html portion of the composition page of the blog. I chose this video of the dramatic squirrel because I thought it was quite possibly the funniest five seconds of video that I have ever seen.

Sojourn Church

The website http://www.sojournchurch.org/ is for a ministry in Texas. It has top navigation and is organized well. The pages within the site have left navigation. It is not incredibly flashy or fancy, but it is nice and straightforward. Also, it uses “white space” well by accenting headings and separating the content of the page. The design seems to be a clean design without a lot of clutter.

Dallas Cowboys Blog Post

http://www.dallascowboys.com/ is the official website of the NFL's Dallas Cowboys.
The site contains all the news and information that one could ever want concerning the team. There are several drop down list from the top of the page that serve as the main point of navigation for the page.
Even though, it does deliver all of the important information concerning the team, it is a very cluttered site that could stand some revamping from a design standpoint. The overall design is somewhat decent, however.
All in all, the site serves its purpose for the team's fans.

A Vision of Students today

" A Vision of Students Today" is a video I found that uses some interesting statistics about today's college student.

BreedMag.com

www.breedmag.com is an online magazine that covers art, fashion, music and ideas quarterly. The design and layout of the site is done very well. It is easy to navigate around the site and to check out the different volumes/issues of the magazine. You can actually flip the pages of the magazine by clicking the bottom corner of the magazine page. You can also get the magazine as a pdf, if you would rather look at it that way. The material that the magazine covers is very interesting and they save some trees by not printing the mag.

RobMachado.com

www.robmachado.com is professional surfer, Rob Machado's website. It is a pretty simple site to navigate. There isn't too much going on, so it is not too overpowering. I really like the use of colors and graphics, and the design and layout is very nice. I also like this site because of the photography in his gallery.

Taylor Swift

I think a really neat website is http://taylorswift.com/index.html
I really like the design and the layout of it. It is set up like it's her scrapbook
with lots of little pieces of paper coming out of it for different links and
other pages to see. I also think the background and colors are neat.
Not only is it a great website to go see, but she has great music too!

FOOD NETWORK....YUM!

A website that i visit alot and one that i really enjoy is www.foodnetwork.com/ . This is one of my favorite websites not only because i love to cook, but also because it's a great site. It is very easy to navigate around. I hate drop down, roll over or any other complicated kind of navigation, and this site has very little of that. My favorite feature of this is that it tells you what show is on the Food Network at the current time. I dig that. Well i'm about to make 4 more of these before i leave for fall break so enjoy Lannie! :-)

Church Marketing Sucks

ChurchMarketingSucks.com is a website about educating the communication department at churches. Their mission is to "frustrate, educate, and motivate the church to communicate." The goal of this website is to move away from cheesy logos, typos in bulletins, and to make church marketing eye catching and a movement that will draw people in, not push them away.

The site has a good header, it's bold and in your face, with a little humor added to it. I like the tabs on the left side that tell you what each section is about, i think that is very creative. The colors on this website go along with the title and theme very well. It is a very "in your face" kind of website.

If you are looking into learning more about graphic design and advertising, this is a great website to visit.

Photography

Photography.com is a great website for people interested in photography and wanting to learn more about the art. The navigation is very easy to use. When you click on a link from the main navigation bar, it then takes you to a new page with links on the left side. When you roll your mouse over the links on the left side more links pop out on the right side of the box. Most of these types of navigation techniques don't work very well, but this is a well working navigation system.

The color scheme on this website is very calming with the light blues and small hint of black. It is a very welcoming color, and the overall look is very distinctive, making it a website that you will want to visit again in the future.

The Rocket Summer :)

After a long wait, The Rocket Summer.com has finally launched! The new site is very easy to navigate and offers many links for the viewers. At first glance, the website looks crowded and cluttered, but it is actually very simple, but with a detailed background. I like how the news is placed on the left side of the page and is easy to read. It reminds me of an RSS feed, showing only the headlines.

One feature that I think really stands out is on the Discography link. Notice when you scroll down a little shopping cart icon floats down the page with every scroll. If you click the icon, and box slides in from the right side letting you buy any album you see on the discography page. This is a very nice feature that can be easily used by viewers.

This is a great website, and a great band as well :) I highly recommend both.

CW Arkansas Blog Post

http://www.cwarkansas.com/ is a website for the CW Arkansas (KASN) Television Network. The network was formerly known as UPN 38.
It contains information about television shows that are shown on the network along with other information about celebrities.
There are also different video archives and blogs from employees of the station.
The site contains side links to all of the information on the site.
The site does its purpose in giving information about the network, it's programing, celebrity news, and other info, however, it is very cluttered which does make it seem harder to navigate through the site.

The Call

The website www.thecall.com is for a ministry based in Kansas City. I do not know much about them except for what it says on the “about us” page. The page says that it is “a movement emphasizing prayer, worship, and fasting for Spiritual breakthrough.”
The website itself looks really cool. It is mostly black, with images that have a mainly warm color palette. This makes the colors really rich. The site has top navigation with drop down secondary, which makes navigation easy from page to page. The layout is definitely not typical, which is nice. It is not overly complicated, it is just not what I am used to seeing. It has a neat style and some motion to it. Overall, I like it.

TV Linkshttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif

TV Links is a website made up almost entirely of lists and links. Its an archive filled with movies, tv shows, documentaries, and music videos for free watching. The navigation is simple consiting of a top navigation with cool tv images as the links, and a footer with links about all the legal information. Site design is simple as well, with two colors as the theme. All in all, an interesting site. Just hope you can stand to watch these shows with chinese subtitles :)

Jackson Waters

www.jacksonwaters.com is a band website. When you first navigate to this page, it catches your eye with the striking color and the floating icon hearts at the bottom of the page. You click on each heart to navigate to a different page of the site. Also when you click on the icons a hand comes down and flips the information box on the home page to a different box. I like the fact that the same design is carried through to each page of the site; the only thing that changes the main information box. The sight also lets the viewer listen to their music constantly and watch one of their videos.

Meevee.com

http://www.meevee.com is a site where you can personalize your favorite TV shows and get suggestions for shows you might like. The design is pretty simple but that's good because the site is user friendly. You get local listings with a bar on top telling you when your favorite shows are going to be on. It's basically a personalized TV guide.

http://www.gmc.com/ is a website designed to show new lines of cars and trucks made by the General Motors Corporation.
The site contains side menu links to all makes of vehicles by GMC. The site also offers options on locating a dealer, building a model vehicle, and price quote options.
All in all, the site is very basic. There are plenty of options on the site however that do make it interesting.

SteelRoots

The website www.steelroots.com is for a TV youth/twenties ministry based in North Carolina that has a few different outreaches. The website looks contemporary in terms of vibrant color and structure. The large graphical headers at the top of each page and the motion do well to help this. One of the more interesting features to me is the place where you can sign up for a daily devotional to be sent to your cell phone. I thought that this was a creative idea. As for navigation, it has two top navigation sections, one of them which contains a drop-down secondary navigation. This organizes the site well. As you roll over the titles in the navigation they increase in font size. It is a good website.

Church of the Harvest

The website http://www.harvestokc.com/ is for a church named "Church of the Harvest" in Oklahoma. The vibrant, deep colors on the site's pages look really cool. It has a very consistent, modern look to it. It perhaps does not have the most edgy, most extreme contemporary look to it, but I still think it is definitely appealing. There is some motion on this site, which is good for keeping the viewers attention. The links at the top for the various campuses have title text that appears as the cursor rolls over them. It has top navigation, drop down secondary navigation, and left side navigation…okay, so it has a lot of navigation—but I think it works well. It has many different links within the site for churches, ministries, conferences, and general information. I think overall it is a good website and I like it.

national geographic

www.nationalgeographic.com is a great website where you can learn anything about everything. Each page definately has a visual that your eyes go to and it works nice with all of the links around it. There is a secondary navigation running down the left side of the page where there are plenty of areas to choose from such as a page for kids, photography, videos and and world music. The design is layed out very well. There is a lot of stuff but it is organized where the viewer is not overwhelmed. I particularly like the people and places page because there is feature story and pictures about a certain place or person.
