Scholastic for kids

Scholastic books has a website for kids to learn about new books coming out. I think the site appeals to kids with the bright colors without being over the top. The navigation is at the top and is wide so kids will easily find it. It also has games kids can enjoy which helps kids get interested in books.

Live Science

LiveScience is a website where you can read articles about Biology subjects, mostly about animals and the environment. The site is mostly white which is pretty boring but the weird thing is I went to a picture page and it had more color than the home page. This site should be more consistent. This site was a little cluttered with too many things on the front page but was easy to find the main navigation.

KFC

KFC's website is mostly red. I admittedly am not of their food but their website is pretty easy to get around. However all the red is a little distracting and kind of stresses me out. As far as content goes though they have all the information about nutrition, shopping, promos and even printable coupons. They've also "decorated the site for Christmas" on the homepage by putting Christmas lights around the frame. That was kind of fun.

Set Apart Life

Eric and Leslie Ludy, authors of several Christian books about marriage and courtship, have created a website to promote a healthy Christian lifestyle and to help people improve their relationships with God and each other. Brown is the background color. They accent it with different colors on each page to keep it interesting.  They've also included recordings of them speaking and answering questions.

Lisa Loeb

www.lisaloeb.com is the official web site for the singer/songwriter Lisa Loeb. The navigation has pictures with the different categories then has subcategories. Her site is built on black and white illustrations with color on the different pages. You can find info about her, her music, and when she is playing. You can also buy merchandise.

Shane and Shane

www.shaneandshane.com is the official site for the band Shane and Shane. It has very different navigation from most websites. It is interactive. You have to "catch" the navigation title you want to go to. This is something fun and different but could be difficult for some. You can look at their interactive journal and listen to their music. You can also buy their merchandise and find out about shows.

Songza

www.songza.com is a site where you can listen to any song you want to. I think its orange colors is fun but not too overwhelming since everything else is black in white. You just type in the song you want to listen to and it will give you choices to listen to. You can create a playlist and listen to your favorites anytime you want. You can also buy songs if you want to.

Ransomed Heart

John and Staci Eldredge are the head of Ransomed Heart ministries, located in Colorado. I like the celtic feel of the site and the drop down side navigation. I think the Content section could be done better. The white is very stark against the darker greens and blacks on the rest of the page.

Beth Moore

Beth Moore is the head of Living Proof ministries. I love the color scheme and the elegance of the page. I really like that they don't trade of functionality for looks. It's easy to navigate and peaceful to look at.

air car

The Air Car is a revolutionary invention. It should be on the market in the next five to ten years. This video tells the story behind it. I couldn't find the link anymore for the website that tells about them, but I remember it was pretty plain and half of the video and other media on it didn't play right. Still, to be able to have a car that runs on air, I'll give them a little lee-way on the web design side.

Ask A Ninja

www.askaninja.com is a website my husban is addicted to. It is funny, but the annoying theme song gets stuck in your head. It's clean, funny, and a good break at the end of the day. I like the layout, but mostly just the videos. The last time Daniel was on it, it was done in the "traditional" ninja colors: red and black which I thought was nice. Unimaginitive, but nice.

zone

www.zone.com is another free gaming website (with the option to buy). I like the layout and the fact that is updated often.

bored.com

www.bored.com Is a website that provides links to other websites for free entertainment. I don't like the plain-ness of the layout, but it is direct and to the point.

Duane Sheriff

Dsheriff is the website of my home church. I don't so much like its plain layout and design (they run on all-volunteer web design so they take what they can get), but I like being able to watch or listen to sermons from my pastor whenever I want to since we live so far away from the church.

God Tube

godtube is a Youtube-like website with all-Christian videos. I like being able to access this website and search for clean comedians whenever I need a pick-me-up.

Pizza website

www.tonys.com is the website of the frozen pizza company. I liked the drop down navigation, but the bright colors and vague layout was confusing when I was trying to access a certain part of the website.

http://www.gifts.com/

Gifts.com is also a great website with many creative gift ideas. They have their website very accessable and easy to find specific things you may be looking for. It is a little busy, but overall a good design and gives you lots of great ideas for presents!

http://www.shutterfly.com/

Shutterfly.com is a great website for uploading and saving your photos. It is layed out very well and has lots of great features. You can also share prints, order pictures, and order personalized keepsakes. Great website with neat gift ideas as well.

krispykreme.com

I really like doughnuts and these are a personal favorite of mine. One thing aobut their website I don't like is the bussyness to it. There are a lot of ads and things to look at. I like pages that are simple and easy to get around. The navigation is nice though and it has an ease to it.

For Real?

Texas A&M

I thought I would visit another Universities web page to see how well we compare to them. I did pick a very prestigouse school in Texas A&M but I was curiouse to see how Ouachita's site measured up to others. They have a very simplistic front page with navigation to the many aspects of their school just like any other university; athletics, academics, news and so on. The main navigation was similar to ours in that there were links to current students, alumni, prospective students, staff, etc. I think Ouachita does a great job with their web page although there are some places that could be fixed up a bit. Anyways, Texas A&m's web page is easy to get around and exemplafies a good web site.

How To videos

www.videojug.com has videos on anything you want to know more about. It's actually a pretty funny website. Here is an example from the website:

VideoJug: How To Do The World's Best Banana Trick

the llama song

a very addicting song! There are a lot of edits in this video, and it's pretty funny.

Snow Days

Make your own snowflake at www.popularfront.com/snowdays. This is a really cool flash website where it always snows! You make your own snowflake and then after you make it, it "snows" and you can see other snowflakes that people have made.

Merry Christmas!

1up.com

While the overall look is pretty nice, the whole site is cluttered and slow beyond compare. Even if you were interested in reading a review, fighting your way through the links and menu bars is way too much of a hassle. On the other hand, Street Fighter 4 looks awesome.

The Onion AV Club

This AV club is worth hanging out with. The articles and reviews are both concise and well-written, and some (like The Hater) are consistently hilarious. The overall look is very clean and modern, as well. If you want entertaining media coverage without all the usual fluff, check this out.

Meta-Religion

A neat idea, but executed poorly. The layout and navigation are confusing and cluttered, the millions of categories and sections are not easy to wade through, and everything looks archaic. This would be good to see in a well-done design, but as it is -- just avoid it.

Kongregate

Kongregate is a great place to find and try out online games. Plus, there's a chat feature built right in. The layout and color scheme is straightforward, so you can jump right into your procrastination.

THE SECRET

Oprah likes it, so it must be good! Seriously, the high production values and good design are amazing, especially since the entire message boils down to "think happy thoughts and the universe fulfills them".

Timecube!

This is a site made by a crazy man, who believes that every day is actually 4 simultaneous days, and we're...wasting time? Not recognizing his obvious genius? I don't know, but it's crazy and charming in that "schizophrenic old man" kind of way.

Buzzdash

While Buzzdash is mainly made in Flash, it doesn't directly pertain to CSS. Even so, the whole site employs really good design principles in it's simplicity and user-friendly interface. Making and responding to any poll, stupid or not, is incredibly easy and fun. (Polls do disappear too fast at times, though.) Perfect for killing a few minutes.

Metacritic

Metacritic is a lot like Rotten Tomatoes, only it covers more than movies. I really love this site. You can see what most critics are rating something at a glance, and the list on the left with the scores right by the names is really convenient. Also, you have to check out the all-time worst and best lists, located at the upper-left for each media section. Last time I checked, Kevin Federline's album had the absolute worst overall score in the music reviews.

Rotten Tomatoes

Rotten Tomatoes compiles all the critical reviews of a movie, then creates a composite score based on if the reviewed liked or hated the movie. The site navigation is a bit cluttered, but not so bad that it hurts the site. The way that the reviews are laid out on each movie page is very nice, and it's fun to check out the composite score that really bad movies get. I think some are actually at o%.

3hive

3hive is one of my favorite online music sites. The roll-down menus on the side make finding different artists and genres easy, and the blog-style layout is easy to read and navigate. Plus, all the music posted here is legal and free.

Ebay.com

EBay is another shopping website, very similar to Amazon, with some differences. Their color scheme is very lively and friendly. Their sections of the website are organized and squared off to make the site have a neat look. Navigation is pretty understandable, allowing for easy traversing between pages.

Amazon.com

Amazon is a shopping website. Their have recently revamped their website, and for the better I think. They had orgranzied their categories in the navigation better, and the site is very simple looking. It does tend to get overcrowded with ads. Other than that, its very simple and neat.

IMB

The International Mission Board is one of the many organizations that send missionaries out to the world. Their website is simple, yet it has a neatness and slick feeling to it. The navigation is simple and easy to use. They keep their colors coordinated and you can see the different elements making to page, showing how Dreamweaver can make a simple site look sharp.

CNNhttp://www.blogger.com/img/gl.link.gif

CNN as we all know is a newsbroadcasting program. Their website is a great example of professionalism. Its extremely clean, organized, color coordinated. The navigation is self-explanitory and easy to use. Overall the site is welldone and exceptional.

BS

with the election coming up i feel it is important to do ome research. this video deals with the biggest issue of the election......

NBATV.com

im fan of this site.....

Sermon Spice

Sermon Spice is a good website that offers videos and more to help *spice* up sermons or lectures. The website is very nicely designed, clean and neat. The colors are welcoming, the navigation is simple and very easy to use.

http://www.jcrew.com/home.jhtml

Another great shopping site....since it is Christmas time. But really, I like the layout of this page a lot. That is what makes it stand out to me. It is so clean and sharp looking, with great pictures and graphic fonts.

http://bluefly.com/

This is a great shopping website! It has lots of designer things but the prices are way marked down. You can find almost anything you could want on this site.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BnC3QlVPzzA

This saved by the bell video really made me laugh. Look close...it really looks like they are saying the words of the song

http://bestapples.com/index.shtml

This is a website that I have been using while I was working on a project for graphic design class. It has great pictures and graphics on it. It is also very easy to read user friendly. There are also tons of recipes that you could use if you ever wanted to make something with apples.

http://www.katespade.com/home/index.jsp

I just loved this fun holiday website that Kate Spade has. I really like the colors and the layout. It looks really clean but fun at the same time. It is also very easy to navigate.

okay, so thay was 9. But this is 10.

www.overstock.com
This is my number favorite shopping site. You can search for specific things, even limit your searches. Overstock has EVERYTHING you could EVER want. Plus its all on sale....What more could you ask for? The site looks fairly simple in looks, but lets be honest on a site like this there is a lot going on as far as pictures and text...so I think it works.

**I really am finished this time. :)

Need a Photographer?

www.imageforwardweddings.com
One of our very own Jaclyn Bates works at Image Forward. They do contemporary wedding photography and other things too. They do a great job on there site displaying there work, prices, and other things about Image Forward. They receive new customers from the web, so it is VERY important for there site to kept up to date, clean, and easy.
If you are needing a photographer...check them out.

Post Script: RACHEL.....GET OFF HILLARY. LANNIE.....this is my tenth post. WOOHOO!

Hillary gets tricked

I'll be honest, I don't like Hillary... but I did think this was kind of mean, but still funny. She has no idea what to say here... and of course that makes it perfect material for Youtube.

OBU Alum for President

I think this clip sums up the campaign of Mike Huckabee very well. His intelligence and eloquence in the recent debates has pleasantly surprised me. If you haven't decided who to vote for, you should consider Mike! PS I think it's very interesting that an entertaining website such as Youtube is playing such a vital role in the presidential elections this time around.

Model Falls... Anchors Laugh

It is nearly impossible in this day and time to do anything stupid or embarrassing without it making an appearance on youtube. This poor model probably had the worst day of her career but it was absolutely hilarious... at least these anchors thought so!

Wesite Review #2

http://www.nascar.com/ is the official website of the National Association of Stock Car Racing.
The site uses top navigation with menus that run below each navigation heading when it is scrolled across. Using this method makes the site very easy to navigate. This helps a lot, since the website is a bit cluttered with information and photos.
There are many different photos and graphics included on the site. They include photographic information about all things NASCAR including many drivers, merchandise, and race information.
The main colors used for the site are black white and green. The green color used for the text does make it somewhat difficult to read. The black and white make the site look simple. This is a good thing, but the site is very cluttered. There could be a bit more white space used with a few more colors in order to make the site seem less full.
The primary audience of the website would mainly be all NASCAR fans. Most fans are young to middle-aged men. However, many older men and women of all ages are beginning to be involved in the sport in many different ways.
Many users may find the website to be a bit too cluttered. All of the information is presented. It is under the correct headings and in some form of an order. However, the site, as stated before, is very cluttered. This will not be a welcomed thing by most viewers.
All in all, the website caters to its audience, it could just be organized and sorted a bit better for everyone's benefit.

I don't really know what to say about this one... it made me laugh and so I decided to post it and see if it would make anyone else laugh. Enjoy.

hahahha I also LOVE this video. If you haven't seen it... watch it twice. The first time watch the mom and the second time watch the baby...
www.elfyourself.com

This website makes for an afternoon of fun! You can make videos of you and your friends... dancing in elf costumes to Christmas jingles... so funny! The best part about it is that this website makes it really easy! Anyone can do it... MERRY CHRISTMAS!
www.missarkansas.org

I like this website because it is attractive and easy to navigate. As a former contestant, I can say that it was very well updated, making it easy for girls to keep up with local competitions around the state and news direct from the Miss Arkansas office. It answers a pageant girl's every question. haha Go ahead, make fun... but seriously... it serves its purpose well.
www.gifts.com

I LOVE this website. It allows you to describe a person that you are shopping for and it analyzes their personality and gives you recommendations and links to online shopping for that particular item. SO COOL. Plus, it's festive and fun! Though I would say it might be a little busy or overwhelming.

The Women of EEE

http://studentorgs.obu.edu/eee/index.html

I think the website looks good and is easy to navigate. The thing that frustrates me about some sites including this one is that they are not maintained. I HATE THIS. Our site is at lest a year out of date if not more. If you are going to have a site...keep it up!!
The good things is Alumni can come and see what the club is up to. And new students can see our history and see what we are all about. So there are pluses to it, I just wish we could keep up with it.

My sister is obsessed with youtube and she showed me this video... I really enjoyed it and I hope you do as well.

I don't care who you are... this is funny!! I've watched it 100 times and it's still just as funny!

Call a friend....

www.thatphonecall.com
This is FREE entertainment. It's simple...you enter a phone number....your message...and it prank calls for you! Now whoever made this site is GENIUS!

I thought this was funny...and you should too.

this took a lot of pictures, a lot of time, and a lot of creativity. I thought this was a pretty good video. very well made, and a good song :)

bringing back a classic

all he used was a webcam, but he was still able to make it so entertaining

My Best Friends Wedding

www.jillandderek.com
This was a first for me. My friend Jill and Derek are getting married. In there invitation they sent a card with this website on it. It is all about them...There story, accommodations for traveling guest, registries with online links, a guestbook, and RSVP for the wedding. It is very sleek looking and I think it is a GREAT idea. I feel sure we will see more of this.

M&Ms

www.mms.com
What a cute little site. They have it all fixed up for Christmas. With the red and green mms and music. On this site you can get customized MMs...how stinking cool is that!!! They offer tons of other things like the history, recipes, and they have this things that can make you an MM....you add your picture....its weird. But go check it out.

maurices

www.maurices.com has an interesting holiday design. It's not exactly the most assesable but I thought it was pretty creative and unique. They used a lot of flash that would probably get on my nerves after a while. It has an interactive lookbook that is like an online magazine with pictures of clothes and such. It would catch any teenage girls eye.

starbust commercial

threadsmedia

www.threadsmedia.com is a website designed for young adults seeking encouragement in living for Christ. It is put together by a community of people who post their personal stories on the site. They keep young adults updated on events happening around the country. The design of the website is definately directed toward drawing in youth and young adults. It is centered around the whole threads and fabric theme but it is not overran with stuff though. It is very easy to navigate around the site.
