Social networks vs A Job?

Social networks such as Facebook and Twitter can help and hurt your chances of finding a job. On one hand you could use these sites to find a job through networking. A company my post about its employment availability and you could use your page to promote yourself. However, posting too much information about yourself could hurt your chances of ever being hired. Showing pictures of yourself at the club and using foul language hinders you. Many companies are now viewing it's potential employees social network pages to find out more about them. I took the initiative of deactivating my Facebook account after sending out applications for internships. Many should go through their pages and clean/filter it and check their privacy settings (just in case).
